The final showdown of World Extreme Cagefighting is fast approaching, and the promotion is keen to end the run with an explosive fight. Check out the who's who of the upcoming WEC 53.

The World Extreme Cagefighting is set to end its promotional run with a bang. Headlining the final WEC event will be a lightweight championship match between Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis. Whoever gets the title will face the winner of the UFC 125 lightweight championship bout, pitting Frankie Edgar contra Gray Maynard.

Wineland vs Stone on WEC 53

The last event for World Extreme Cagefighting is fast approaching, and it seems that the best fights are saved for WEC 53. The first WEC Bantamweight champion will compete against a newcomer. It's showtime!

Eddie Wineland is expected to meet the newcomer, Ken Stone, at WEC 53 on December 16. The bout has been agreed upon already, and contracts are soon to be finalized. WEC 53 will be the final event for World Extreme Cagefighting, before the UFC-WEC merger in 2011. The tourney will take action in Jobing,com Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

A bright future is certainly coming along Urijah Faber's way, and he already have plans for it. After defeating Mizugaki on the penultimate event of WEC, he is eyeing a rematch against Dominick Cruz.

For four years, Urijah Faber has been the face of World Extreme Cagefighting. A long-reigning featherweight champion, he’s the only WEC star that could rival his popularity with any UFC counterpart. And with the news about UFC-WEC merger, it seems like Faber will be having his place among the elite

Still, that time will not come, until he headlines another WEC fight. And if all goes well, Faber will take on Mizugaki before gracing his way to the UFC. After that, it is possible that Faber will have a rematch to the only MMA fighter that he abhors — Dominick Cruz.
