“Later than night, my body started cooling down and I felt my shoulder was just jacked up. I went to the doctor and they said I have a partially torn rotator cuff.” ---Cain Velasquez

After defeating Brock Lesnar and wearing his newly minted UFC Heavyweight championship belt, Cain Velasquez will be under the knife as he acquired a partially torn rotator cuff. According to the fighter himself, he got the shoulder injury during his match with Brock Lesnar. Therefore, his rumored fight against Junior Dos Santos at UFC 129 is unlikely to happen. With Cain Velasquez’s torn muscle, he will undergo surgery and will be out of the commission for at least six months. That being said, his slated opponent – Junior Dos Santos – might take another fight. Whether UFC will institute an interim heavyweight title, that remains to be seen. But one thing is for sure: When Cain Velasquez is all well and ready, he’ll come back and fight.
