As the Zuffa vs Team Golden Glory fight heats up, three more fighters from the Holland gym were released from their contract.
The battle between Team Golden Glory and Zuffa is heating up, as three more fighters from the Holland stable were released from Strikeforce and UFC.
Based from a lead trainer named Martijn de Jong – which is the one who first post the said news on Twitter – the fighters that were released from Zuffa are former Strikeforce champion, Marloes Coenen, Valentijn Overeem and UFC heavyweight fighter, Jon Olav Einemo. Due to an undisclosed injury, Valentijn Overeem’s debut on Strikeforce will be moved to another date.
Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu 2 got another blow. According to reports, Valentijn Overeem will be unable to face Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva on Showtime which will happen on Dec. 4 due to an unidentified injury.
The said event should be the Strikeforce debut of Overeem, the brother of Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem. Right now, younger Overeem is on a two-fighting winning streak. This fight will be his stepping stone to the promotion’s heavyweight class.
Meanwhile, Silva encountered defeat against Fabricio Werdum in 2009 but returned to redeem himself by winning over Andrei Arlovski in May.
The Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu 2 showcases a fight between Dan Henderson and Renato “Babalu” Sobral in the main card. Preliminary fight will feature fights of Matt Lindland versus Lawler and Paul Daley against Scott Smith.View Article Source »
Something big is hitting the Scottrade Center in Missouri, as Antonio Silva and Valetijn Overeem is slated to lock horns at the upcoming Strikeforce December 4 event. The people of Missouri is definitely in for a slugfest!
Valentijn Overeem will collide with Antonio Silva at the upcoming Strikeforce event on December 4. Overeem has been fighting since 1996, and was under the PRIDE, RINGS and Sengoku banner. He put together consecutive knockout victories after a back-to-back loss in 2009. Though he has good hands with great powers, 15 of Valentijn Overeem’s loss has come by way of submission. Antonio Silva, meanwhile, got a pretty successful run at heavyweight since his first appearance in 2005. Silva’s sole defeat came from a unanimous decision loss to Fabricio Werdum in November 2009.
The December 4 Strikeforce will feature a long overdue rematch between Dan Henderson and Renato Sobral, and will take action at the Scottrade Center, in St. Louis, Missouri.View Article Source »
