UFC 134 Rio’s Live Press Conference Streaming

UFC 134 Rio which is scheduled to take place on August 27, 2011 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil will be having its live press conference on Thursday with Dana White as one of the attendees.

As the aftermath of UFC 131 fades away, UFC 134 Rio is fast approaching. So UFC will be having a press conference for the UFC 134 to make fans’ anticipation for the event increase.

The live video streaming of UFC 134 Rio’s press conference will air at MMAWeekly.com at 11 a.m. PT/ 2 p.m. ET on Thursday. The UFC 134 Rio features middleweight champion Anderson Silva defending his title against Yushin Okami in the main event bout.

The special UFC press conference will be attended by Dana White with some other fighters in the UFC 134’s card, like Anderson Silva, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, and more.

Following Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s announcement of fighting at the upcoming UFC 134, two heavyweight fighters are waiting for a tap to join him in the Octagon. Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic and Brendan Schaub made their interest to fight Minatauro Nogueria known to the public.

Albeit Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria’s coach – Luis Dorea – personally hoped for Cro Cop, Brendan Schaub and his team believes that he deserve the spot. Manager, Lex McMahon, said in a text to ESPN.com that they are optimistic to get the fight at UFC 134.

Sorry fans, but no Maria Melilo will appear in the Octagon for UFC 134.

Fans were disappointed and buzzed several MMA websites after a report claiming that Brazilian model, Maria Melilo, will not be in UFC 134 as an Octagon Girl.

Rumors that UFC will hire a local Octagon Girl, particularly Maria Melilo, has circulated since the UFC declared its return to Brazil. This rumor was denied by a UFC official who do not want to be named, claiming that there are still no plans in hiring Octagon Girls to serve in UFC 134.

Maria Melilo was suspected be familiar in Brazilian MMA world, but the possibility that she will appear in UFC 134 is still doubted.

Brazilian UFC vets, Alexandre Ferreira and Rousimar Palhares, were reportedly said to have verbal agreements to face each other at UFC 134. Their match-up was originally scheduled for UFC on Versus 3, until Alexandre Ferreira bowed out of the match in the wake of devastating flooding in Brazil four months ago.

Moreover, Sherdog.com reported that the fighter was dismissed from Chute Boxe Academy. Hence, Alexandre Ferreira’s future in MMA was put into doubt. But it seems that the middleweight fighter is moving on, and he’s aiming to return in the winner’s column following his UFC promotional loss. Rousimar Palhares, on the other hand, is making a momentum after his pivotal defeat against Nate Marquardt at UFC Fight Night 22.

Whether the Ferreira vs Palhares middleweight brawl will grace the UFC Rio’s main card is yet to be known. UFC 134, originally dubbed as UFC Rio, will take place on August 27 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The event is anticipated to feature a middleweight title match pitting Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami.

Last Thursday, UFC officials announced that Diego Sanchez and Matt Hughes will have a welterweight clash for a to-be-announced UFC fall event.

Diego Sanchez latest fight was a unanimous decision win over Martim Kampmann at UFC on Versus 3 last March. On the other hand, Matt Hughes has been idle in MMA active competition since November 2010. That was after he suffered a 21-second knockout from BJ Penn.

The question whether Royce Gracie will have his retirement fight at UFC Rio or not is still up in the air, unanswered. Will audience be able to see the legendary UFC fighter inside the Octagon again?

As reported by Fighting Insider last week, Royce Gracie wants a retirement fight at UFC Rio. In fact, UFC’s legendary fighter was in attendance at yesterday’s UFC 129 pre-fight conference. He stood off to the side, waiting for a meeting, as Dana White addressed a group of reporters. When asked about the possibility of having Royce Gracie back inside the Octagon, the UFC President candidly replied:

“[Royce] thinks that his performance against Matt Hughes wasn’t what not what it could have been, and thinks he can beat Matt Hughes. He wants that fight again.”

UFC president, Dana White, has indicated that the promotion has no interest in offering Royce Gracie a fight for its upcoming August event in Rio de Janeiro.

UFC president, Dana White, refutes previous reports that the promotion is offering Brazilian pioneer – Royce Gracie – a fight at the UFC Rio.

Considered as MMA’s early classical figure, Royce Gracie has not fought since May 2006. During his last fight, he suffered a TKO from former UFC welterweight champion, Matt Hughes. While Royce Gracie would like to have another chance to close his career with style, it seems unlikely for the MMA legend to see the Octagon at UFC 134.
