All six UFC 134 drug test results come back clean from the Aug. 27 event in Brazil.
The six fighters who were tested for illegal drug substances at this past month’s UFC 134 event all submitted clean and negative results, UFC officials announced Thursday.
In an email sent by UFC Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs – Marc Ratner – he confirmed that middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, event’s headliner, Yushin Okami, and other four fighters, were tested negative towards drug abuse — such as marijuana, cocaine and other steroids or performance supplements.
The UFC 134 event was held last August 27 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. It was said to be the first UFC show that took place in Brazil since 1998. The evening’s main card, which headlined Anderson Silva grabbing his 9th consecutive title defense, aired on pay-per-view. The preliminary card was aired on Spike TV and streamed on Facebook.
The drug testing were coordinated by the UFC officials who hired outside drug testers for the event due to lack of a regulatory body in Brazil.View Article Source »

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua finally made his revenge on Forrest Griffin after winning the light heavyweight battle last Saturday.
After his title lost to Jon Jones at UFC 128, Maurcio “Shogun” Rua won his bout against Forrest Griffin at the UFC 134 last August 27. This victory served as his revenge for the man who defeated him during his UFC debut.
Watching the fight that took place on Saturday night in Brazil, no one would even recognize the Mauricio “Shogun” Rua who fought Forrest Griffin the first time. He seems like a bull that charged forward and was relentless with his attack on his opponent. Once Forrest Griffin fell to the ground, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua was on him like a pitbull and launched a blitzing series of hammer fist which ended the bout.
It was exactly the type of homecoming Mauricio “Shogun” Rua wanted to have, as he fought in front of his fans in Brazil. For the long time veteran of Pride and the UFC, getting a win like that at UFC 134 was everything he could have hoped for. The victory puts him back on track to hopefully earn another shot at Jon Jones or anyone who has the light heavyweight title in the future.View Article Source »

With UFC 134 on its way, who do you think will take home the championship belt on Saturday?
Finally, the time has come for Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami to lock horns again. And while The Spider has grown tired of hearing about his loss against The Thunder, the latter must be thinking of how he can snatch the title. However, Anderson Silva has the reach advantage, he moves in a jiffy, extremely good in stand-up fights, and has knowledge in BJJ. Still, Yushin Okami carries with him great takedowns, boxing prowess and grappling skills.
That said, fans must expect Yushin Okami to get Anderson Silva in a clinch and wear him out. However, he must look out with the champion’s knees. If the contender can wear him the reigning king down again – with some ground and pound – the match could go the distance. Still, Anderson Silva can take a beating and can wrap up a quick submission if needed.Read the rest of the article »
