"I'm just now getting back to some light training. I really wanted to take my time and let this heal right, and we're about to open our gym, so it works out perfect." - Ed Herman

UFC middleweight Ed Herman revealed that he has left Team Quest and plans to open a new gym with Ryan Schultz in Fort Collins, Colorado. While planning, he’s nursing his back-to-back knee injuries and looking forward to train full-bore in November. If all goes well, he’s eying to return to the Octagon in the first quarter of next year.

The 29-year-old fighter damaged his ACL and meniscus while fighting Aaron Simpson at UFC 102 in Portland, Oregon almost a year ago. He underwent surgery on September of last year, and got it re-injured during a routine training session four months after. Meaning, he got a lot of time to think while sitting on the couch. Prior to plans of leaving Team Quest, Herman and Schultz were coaches in the gyms’ student program. The two guys hope to open their new gym by October. As for his career, “Short Fuse” is anticipating to return on February or March next year.
