It's a February Superbowl weekend no more for Kenny Florian and Evan Dunham. Their match was moved to January 22 that will tentatively take place on Fort Hood in Texas. Who will gain a two-fight losing streak in the upcoming event?
The Kenny Florian vs Evan Dunham match, which was originally scheduled for the February Super Bowl weekend, has been moved to a January 22 event. The Florian vs Dunham bout will feature two 155-pound fighters that aims to avoid a two-fight losing streak. Kenny Florian is coming from a decision loss against Gray Maynard at UFC 118. Evan Dunham, on the other hand, will attempt to eliminate his past setback against Sean Sherk in UFC 119.
The January 22 event is likely to take action in an US military base in Fort Hood, Texas. However, no paperwork is finalized yet. But in case the event will be all geared up, the January 22 event will mark the third time UFC held an event in conjunction with an US military base.View Article Source »
A pair of "Ultimate Fighter" coaches will look to go to battle Super Bowl weekend, as Forrest Griffin returns to action to face Rich Franklin in a light heavyweight bout. But can they recuperate in time for the event?
Forrest Griffin is said to do battle with Rich Franklin on his come back, and the bout will probably take action as a co-main event for the SuperBowl weekend. Whether the news is official or not, Rich “Ace” Franklin’s health will definitely be a holdup for the event.
The former middleweight champ, Ace, suffered a broken arm after acquiring a knockout win versus Chuck Liddell. And according to some sources close to the fighter, Franklin is yet to be medically cleared for a return. And just like Rich Franklin, Forrest Griffin is also in an extended layoff due to shoulder surgery he got after defeating Tito Ortiz.
The bout between Franklin and Griffin is feasible to gain co-main event for the SuperBowl weekend show, which is most likely to be headlined by Anderson Silva’s title defense contra Vitor Belfort.View Article Source »
Both anchoring an impressive fighting record, Jon Jones and Ryan Bader is like a match made in heaven in the UFC scene. But with some circumstances requiring Bader to take the time off, locking horns with Jones seems to be near yet so far.
The blue-chip light heavyweights Jon Jones and Ryan Bader is set to square off in early 2011, with a date yet to be assigned.
Since making his UFC debut in August 2008, Jon Jones has been regarded as one of the most dynamic fighters on the international scene. With a record of 11-1, his sole defeat came via disqualification after giving illegal elbows against Matt Hamill. Following that, Jones took out Brandon Vera and Vladimir Matyunshenko via first-round TKOs. On the other hand, Ryan Bader began his UFC career after winning the TUF Season 8 handily. Bader has won all of his five UFC matches since joining the organization, including the knock out victory from Keith Jardine and decision victory over Antonio Rogerio NogueiraRead the rest of the article »
"I think at this point, we don't know what date it's going to be. It's definitely going to be some time next year. We just don't know if it's going to be January 1st or SuperBowl weekend." - Ed Soares
Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort seems set to go head-to-head on SuperBowl weekend. The Silva vs Belfort match was originally planned to take action on New Year’s Day. However, there are doubts as to whether The Sprider will be available since he is still recuperating from a rib injury acquired prior to the Silva vs Sonnen fight.
Still, sources have reported that there are already verbal agreement between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard to meet at the upcoming UFC 125. With strong reports that Edgar’s lightweight title defense contra Maynard is set on New Year’s day, it allows Silva and The Phenom to switch to the SuperBowl weekend on February 6. There are no confirmation from the UFC yet, so always check back often to keep you posted.View Article Source »
