Josh Thompson hurt himself within the past week, and tests revealed foot injury that left him unable to complete his training camp and compete.
Due to foot injury, Josh Thomson withdrew from his Strikeforce bout against Maximo Blanco this September 10. The Josh Thomson vs Maximo Blanco match was slated as a main card for the promotion’s upcoming event in Cincinnati that will feature Heavyweight Grand Prix fights. The said grand prix will feature a Josh Barnett vs Sergei Kharitonov and Antonio Silva vs Daniel Cormier matches.
Strikeforce officials could not immediately disclose whether they will seek a replacement for Josh Thomson against Maximo Blanco.View Article Source »
A very interesting match-up was made by Strikeforce, as Shinya Aoki faces Lyle Beerbohm at the promotion's April 9 card.
Rumors on who will face Shinya Aoki at Strikeforce’s April 9 card has been rampant for weeks now. Names like Hiroyuki Takaya and Gesias Calvancante emerged, but it seems that Lyle Beerbohm will be the one to challenge the Japanese grappler.
If not bizarre, the Shinya Aoki vs Lyle Beerbohm fight is an interesting match-up for Strikeforce to make. Lyle Beerbohm was on a 15-fight winning streak, after suffering his first loss to Pat Healy last February. Shinya Aoki, on the other hand, carries a three-fight victory sweep before acquiring a knockout loss from Yuichiro Nagashima at Dynamite! 2010.

Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker, made an announcement during the Fedor vs Silva post-fight press conference that Gina Carano is likely to come back in the promotion this June. However, no opponent has been mentioned for her return yet.
Gina Carano last appeared in August 2009 while competing for Strikeforce’s vacant 145-pound title against Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos. Though she was distinct for her striking advantages, Cyborg was able to defeat her via TKO.
