Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Dan Henderson will face each other for the upcoming UFC 139 on November 19.
Maurico “Shogun” Rua and Dan Hernderson have verbally agreed to face each other at the upcoming UFC 139 on November 19, 2011. Sources confirmed the said bout, which will serve as the return of Dan Henderson in the Octagon after defeating Fedor Emelianenko in Strikeforce. The Shogun Rua vs Dan Henderson match is expected to be the new main event for UFC 139, which saw its prior main event between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos moved to November 12’s UFC on Fox fight card.
The return of Dan Henderson to UFC will signal the start of his third tenure in the promotion after spending some time in Strikeforce, where he won the light heavyweight crown last March. He remains a viable competitor even at his age for both middleweight and light heavyweight division, and will look to hold the same status in his return to the Las Vegas-based organization.
On the other hand, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is coming off a win over Forrest Griffin in a rematch at UFC 134 — where he knocked out the TUF season 1 winner. He has seen mixed results during his time in the UFC with career stats of 4-3. The fight with Dan Henderson will show that the road back to the title for Shogun Rua will not be easy for him. However, it ensures him a great match.View Article Source »

"You have people saying I was scared to fight.... man I'm a fighter, that's what I do." --- Rashad Evans
Rashad Evans made a firm decision to wait for a title shot versus Mauricio Shogun Rua. Insisting that it was a business call, he was at the sideline for the last ten months after he decided to wait for Shogun Rua to recover from a knee injury. Rashad Evans would want that, rather than risking his status as the number one light heavyweight contender. Unfortunately, his decision back fired when he acquired a knee injury of his own.
That incident forced him to back out at the UFC 128 main card. Worse, Rashad Evans is seeing his road to the top blocked by a good friend — Jon Jones. Jon Jones will be replacing him at the upcoming event, and will face Shogun Rua in a title match. And though he is accused of being lazy, money driven, and coward, the TUF 2 winner insists that nothing could be further from the truth.Read the rest of the article »

That said, oddsmakers are giving Jon Jones an approximate 60% chance of winning while Shogun Rua comes in at 45%. The two figures don’t add up to an even 100% due to the nature of sports wagering.

"There are so many guys at 205. Rampage is probably next in line. Rampage is still in the mix." ---Dana White, UFC President
UFC President, Dana White, revealed that Quinton Rampage Jackson is likely to have a shot at the light heavyweight title. That is, if he beats Thiago Silva at UFC 130. Though Rampage Jackson’s clash against Thiago Silva is not yet official, sources claim that the deal is already slated.
With Ryan Bader set to face Jon Jones at UFC 126, the current 205lbs title picture is getting hot. However, whoever wins between Ryan Bader and Jon Jones is likely to be given one more shot before getting a chance for the belt. That being said, Rampage Jackson is on course for a rematch with either Rashad Evans or Mauricio Shogun Rua.
And just like how Dana White said it: “There’s so many great guys in the 205lbs division. The big problem has been Shogun’s injury clogging up the division. Now he’s healthy and going to fight, and we’ll get everything rolling.”View Article Source »
