According to sources, the Season 5's debut of Bellator on MTV2 pulled in a total of 386,000 viewers last Tuesday.
Bellator Season 5’s latest offering on MTV 2 garnered a total of 386,000 viewers for the initial and re-broadcast airing of the show from Atlantic City, NJ.
Several sources revealed the ratings on Tuesday. According to the ratings, Bellator’s debut on Saturday night at 9pm ET pulled in 235,000 viewers — which is an 18% increase from the last season’s average. Bellator continues their Season 5 tournaments with this weekend’s show in Hollywood, filled with middleweight fighters stepping in for action.
Bellator Fighting Championships currently airs on Saturday nights on MTV2. This coming weekend’s broadcast will actually air earlier than normal, beginning 7:00 PM ET to coincide with the UFC Fight Night card airing on Spike TV at 9:00 PM ET.View Article Source »
Bellator booked two bouts for the upcoming welterweight-tourney semifinals.
Four veteran MMA fighters have just been added to Bellator 53 — the event which will host the second round of the promotion’s Season 5 Welterweight Tournament. Following the Bellator 49 show that took place in New Jersey last Saturday, Bellator CEO – Bjorn Rebney – confirmed that there would be two bouts slated for the upcoming welterweight-tourney semifinals.
Ben Saunders (11-3-2 MMA, 2-0 BFC) will be meeting Luis Santos (50-6-1 MMA, 2-0 BFC) on the said event, and so as Chris Lozano (9-1 MMA, 2-1 BFC) and Douglas Lima (19-4 MMA, 1-0 BFC). Bellator 53 will be held on October 8, 2011. However, both the location and venue haven’t been finalized yet.
The winners of the two bouts will be scheduled to meet on a future match-up, which will determine who among them is this season’s welterweight tournament champion. The declared champ will then face either current welterweight champion, Ben Askren or Jay Hieron.

Bellator has set the stage for their season 5 Bantamweight Tournament, and the best fighter will get a title shot against reigning champ -- Zach Makovsky.
Joe Warren will attempt to add another title to his trophy case, as he enters the season 5 of Bellator Bantamweight Tournament. Opposing him is the Olympic bronze medalist in wrestling, Alexis Vila. Also in the fight card is a bantamweight duel between Joe Soto and Eduardo Dantas. Ed West will face Luiz Nogueira, while Chase Beebe will lock horns contra Marcos Galvao as well.
The winner of the Bellator Bantamweight Tournament season 5 will have a shot to face current champ, Zach Makovsky. The said event will take action on September 24, and will air live at MTV2.

He added that Bellator is a big organization that can expose him on a national television such as MTV2. After last Sunday's welterweight tourney, Bellator is gearing for its next season's bantamweight event.
After last Saturday’s welterweight match, Bellator officials confirmed that six fighters are now set for the next season’s eight-man bantamweight tournament. The promotion’s fifth season will feature Chase Beebe, Eduardo Dantas, Marcos Galvao, Luis Nogueira, Joe Warren and Ed West.
MMA fans can expect a number of interesting rematches during the event. Last April 16, Joe Warren emerged victorious over Marcos Galvao, while Luis Nogueria loss against Eduardo Dantas via armbar. Chase Beebe, on the other hand, was defeated by Joe Warren at DREAM’s 139-pound grand prix last March 2009.
