Tarec Saffiedine will lock horns with Jake Ellenberger in the first ever UFC card in Singapore

TThe first ever UFC card in Singapore is starting to shape up with just a little over a month from its announcement last August. MMA junkie has first reported that Jake Ellenberger and former Strikeforce welterweight champ Tarec Saffiedine have already agreed to face each other in the headlining bout of the scheduled event in January 4, 2014.

Ellenberger is trying to get back into his lofty ranking in the welterweight division after suffering a frustrating loss to fellow rising star Rory McDonald. The fight received criticisms from MMA fans due to the lack of activity from both fighters especially Ellenberger, who failed to execute any significant offense on that night. Dana White himself admitted that he was disappointed with the performance of the two. Prior to the loss, Ellenberger put together two consecutive victories over Jay Hieron and Nate Marquardt.

UFC 167, which is headlined by a welterweight title fight between George St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks marks the return of UFC to the big screen after almost a year. The last event to hit the theaters was GSP’s successful return against Carlos Condit in UFC 154, it was held a year ago in Montreal, Canada. Jake Ellenberger plans to return in December with a fight against Kampmann

Jake Ellenberger is planning to get back in the octagon in UFC 168 and he has set his sights in Martin Kampmann as a possible opponent. He said that he is currently on a negotiation to fight in December and is aiming for a fight against a top rated welterweight.

“I’m just looking for someone one the top 10,” he said. “(Kampmann) is a good possibility right now. That’s something I’d definitely look forward to. UFC hasn’t offered me yet so I just have to wait. I’m always highly motivated to fight. I’m excited be back in there against a top 10 opponent.”

Dana White has told a small of group of reporters in Brazil about BJ Penn’s original plans before dropping to featherweight. He said that Penn originally asked for a fight with Benson Henderson as stepping stone for a trilogy with Frankie Edgar. Dana then decided that the former 2 division champion didn’t need to take an extra step. He asked Frankie if he wanted to fight BJ again and pitted them against each other as head coaches of the upcoming TUF season.

Nate Diaz’s UFC 129 Fight is Still On Despite Travel Issues

Nate Diaz is having headache because he needs to disclose his criminal record before heading to Canada for UFC 129.

UFC fighter, Nate Diaz, hinted in his Twitter account about his travel issues to Canada for his UFC 129 fight against Rory McDonald. However, his manager – Cesar Gracie – cleared out that the fighter was just venting out frustration at additional paperwork necessary before he can travel to the country.

UFC execs required Nate Diaz to submit a declaration to the Canadian government, disclosing his criminal record and his intent to travel to Canada. The red tape rooted from a 2006 altercation in Reno, Nevada, wherein Nate Diaz got a criminal record for disturbing the peace. But Cesar Gracie pointed out that the additional paperwork was no big deal, and it will just cover the bases of Nate Diaz’s travel issues to Canada.
