Former UFC champion Rich ‘Ace’ Franklin and former Strikeforce champ, Cung Le agree to meet in UFC 148
UFC officials have announced that former UFC champion Rich ‘Ace’ Franklin and former Strikeforce champ, Cung Le agree to meet in UFC 148’s middleweight event.
Franklin recently fought in UFC 126 where he lost to Forrest Griffin. While Le got knocked out by Wanderlei Silva at the UFC 139 event, November of last year.
UFC 148 is expected to take place on July 7, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will also feature a bout between bantamweight fighters Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber.

Another fighter pulled out of the UFC 133 fight card, after Antonio Rogerio Nogueira incurred and injury.
The upcoming UFC 133 is one of the fight cards with the most number of injuries, pulling out fighters from their respective matches. The latest fighters who withdrew were Antonio Rogerio Nogueria and Rich Franklin. UFC announced that the former had to bow out due to an injury. That said, Rich Franklin will be off from the fight card too.
The Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs Rich Franklin match was set as a co-main event of UFC 133 on August 6 in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, the latter still has no opponent after three weeks’ notice. Hence, UFC came up with the decision to pull out the said match on the event. As a result, the middleweight showdown between Vitor Belfort and Yoshihiro Akiyama was flagged as the co-main event.
UFC 133 will take place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. This tournament will feature pay-per-view events that will start at 9pm ET, along with a couple of fights that will be on Spike TV and a free live video streaming of untelevised prelims on Facebook.View Article Source »

Former UFC middleweight champion, Rich Franklin, was born as Rich Jay Franklin II on October 5, 1974. Prior to becoming a MMA fighter, he was a Mathematics teacher at the Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a graduate of University of Cincinnati, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, as well as his Master’s Degree in Education.

Forrest Griffin is said to do battle with Rich Franklin on his come back, and the bout will probably take action as a co-main event for the SuperBowl weekend. Whether the news is official or not, Rich “Ace” Franklin’s health will definitely be a holdup for the event.
The former middleweight champ, Ace, suffered a broken arm after acquiring a knockout win versus Chuck Liddell. And according to some sources close to the fighter, Franklin is yet to be medically cleared for a return. And just like Rich Franklin, Forrest Griffin is also in an extended layoff due to shoulder surgery he got after defeating Tito Ortiz.
