One MMA fighter is now out of active competition, as Ricardo Almeida officially retires.
Ricardo Almeida officially announced in his RABJJ website that he will be retiring from MMA competition. According to the fighter, he is having difficulties balancing his career as a MMA fighter, BJJ academy owner, and father.
Ricardo Almeida first retired on 2004 and returned to active competition four years later, after signing a six-fight deal with UFC. Following that, his son was diagnosed with autism, which made him struggle to devote a sufficient time on fighting.
“MMA is a great sport but also physically and mentally unforgiving. It is a dangerous task to step in the octagon, especially if your focus is not at 100 percent. After much deliberation since my fight at UFC 128 I have decided to step away from the sport as a fighter.”
Since returning to active competition, Ricardo Almeida set a respectable 5-3 record in the UFC. He closed his statement by thanking UFC and its officials, Frankie Edgar. his family, students, and fans. He will remain involved in MMA as an instructor, coach and as a fan.View Article Source »

It has been five months since Brendan Schaub last entered the Octagon, and now that he’s coming back to enter a new battle. This time, he’ll make sure it will leave a mark in the history of MMA. Schaub is stepping inside the arena this coming Saturday at UFC 128 in Newark new Jersey.

UFC and Facebook are full force for UFC 128.
The friendship between Facebook and UFC continues as the MMA organization streams two more bouts on the social media.
UFC will return on the octagon this weekend for UFC 128 in New Jersey. Two of the preliminary fights will stream on Facebook on Saturday at 8pm ET/5pm PT. The bouts feature New Jersey native Ricardo Almeida and Xtreme Couture fighter Mike Pyle in a welterweight battle. Plus, NJ’s Kurt Pellegrino vs. Gleison Tibau in a lightweight fight.
To be able to watch the fights, all you have to do is “Like” UFC’s page and click on the video link. Right after the prelims, the show will shift to Spike TV at 9pm ET/6pm PT for two more fights. The prelims which will be aired on Spike will include Eliot Marshall vs. Luis Cane and Edson Barboza Jr. vs. Anthony Njokuani.

Surely, fans missed UFC Prelims since the UFC 126. Now, it is making a come back for UFC 128.
UFC prelims is back on Spike after a record-breaking UFC 126 Prelims Live.
The biggest MMA organization returns to Spike TV with a much-anticipated telecast of UFC 128: Shogun vs. Jones event. UFC 128 will take place this March 19 in New Jersey.
The UFC 128 preliminary features a light heavyweight battle between Luiz Cane (10-3) and Karlos Vemola (8-1), and Edson Barboza vs Anthony Njokuani in a lightweight title.
Meanwhile, UFC 127: Penn vs Fitch will air its two fights on Facebook and another two on ION TV in the U.S. However, there’s are still no announcement yet if UFC will stream UFC 128 on Facebook as well.
