Bellator MMA aims to reinforce their roster by signing 28-0 prospect Julio Cesar Neves Jr.

Bellator MMA has recently signed the unbeaten Brazilian prospect Julio Cesar Neves Jr., younger brother of Rafel Silva. Neves, who is commonly referred to as “Morceguinho” by his fans in Brazil, has compiled an outstanding record of 28 wins without a single loss. In addition, only three of his opponents made it to the final bell. He has won 17 of his fights by KO/TKO and the other eight came by submission. Morceguinho has fought 15 times this year including a highlight reel knockout over Denel Chuleta in the Brazilian regional circuit WSOC.

“I came to Bellator to fight the best in the world,” states Neves regarding his signing with the organization. “The Bellator featherweight division has some of the best fighters in the world, and I want to fight the best.”

The details of his debut have not been revealed until now but most likely, he will be participating in the next season of Bellator’s featherweight tournament.

Meanwhile, his older brotherhas just won the Bellator bantamweight tourney this earlier this month.  He is scheduled to fight the reigning bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas in the early part of 2014.

An ankle injury sidelined Eduardo Dantas for the rest of the year

Bellator’s reining bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas has recently suffered an ankle injury that sidelined him for the rest of the year. The injury prompted the organization to move his scheduled title fight against Summer Series bantamweight tourney winner Rafael Silva to 2014.

The 24 year old Dantas won his bantamweight strap by choking out inaugural champion Zach Makovsky in Bellator 65 back in 2012. He defeated Marcos Galvao in his first title defense in Bellator 89 that was held on February 14, 2013. With Dantas sidelined for the rest of the year, the defense over Galvao ends up as his only fight in 2013.

His opponent, Rafael Silva, has racked up 13 straight victories since his third loss in February 2011. He made his promotional debut by submitting Rodrigo Lima in the bantamweight semi-finals of Bellator Summer Series last July. Silva has recently won the tourney with a unanimous decision win over Anthony Leone at Bellator 102.

Visala, California – Two UFC veterans has split their debuts in the latest event of Bellator that was held this Friday in Visalia Convention Center, Visalia California. Bellator 102 has featured a pair of heavyweight and middleweight semifinal bouts as well the bantamweight tournament finals.

The two UFC veterans, Cheick Kongo and Lavar Johnson were expected to blow out their opponents but only one of them earned a win in their promotional debut. Cheick Kongo (19-8-2) has won his Bellator debut by stopping Mark Godbeer (8 – 2) in the second round of their semifinal bout. After an uneventful first round, Kongo slipped a haymaker and moved around to his opponent’s back. He then delivered his patented vicious knees in the clinch when Godbeer attempted to reverse the position. The overmatched Englishman tried to cover but he later crumpled in the floor due to the strikes. Big John McCarthy stopped the fight at 2:04 mark of the round. The win advances Kongo into the finals where he will meet Vinicius Queiroz, the man who has just beaten his fellow UFC veteran Lavar Johnson.
