Coming from the Philippines, Eduard Folayang is starting to make a mark in the MMA scene.
For the last several years, the Philippines has become a hot bed for MMA fans and a growing base of fighter talent. Possibly one of the brightest prospects from the country is One FC fighter, Eduard Folayang.
The former school teacher turned fighter recently won his main event bout for the fledgling promotion in Singapore. In the debut of One FC, Eduard Folayang defeated A Sol Kwon via unanimous decision despite acquiring a badly broken nose early in the fight. He also admits that the rousing success of the promotion’s inaugural event impressed him, and he is looking forward to compete in more One FC fights.Read the rest of the article »
After the UFC 132 pre-fight press conference in Japan, Dana White announced that they are planning to have a promotional event in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Last Thrursday afternoon, UFC President – Dana White – confirmed the rumors that the organization will be going to Japan sometime this year. On previous years, Dana White always blamed the rampant organized crime groups in Japan that keeps the UFC out of the said country.
However, on the Thursday’s UFC 132 pre-fight press conference, the UFC President sounded confident on planning to have a Japanese event for the year 2011. He also said that they might branch out with a new season of The Ultimate Fighter in Brazil. He also added that they are already working on it, and currently had three or four places dialed in. Dana White also mentioned that the Philippines will be added to the next reality show expansion.
When asked why it’s been held for quite some time, he answered by pointing to the rapid growth of the organization. Scheduling events cannot be finish in just a day, and the he still work for even when on vacation because his phone never gets turned off.View Article Source »
Good news to all Filipino MMA fans! UFC officials are planning to start their TUF international editions in the Philippines, and it's likely to happen this year.
During a media conference call yesterday, UFC President – Dana White – laid out the plans of featuring Filipino fighters in the promotion’s first international edition of “The Ultimate Fighter”. First launched in 2005 on Spike TV, each TUF installment has been based in the US.
