WEC 53 marks the end of the WEC era. Next year, WEC and sister company UFC will merge into one. WEC 53 fighters bagged stashes of cash for their action-packed performances.

Eddie Wineland, Shane Roller, Anthony Pettis and Benson Henderson lead the “Fight Night” bonuses for their performances at Thursday’s WE3 52 event. Each fighter earned a whooping $10,000. WEC 53 Results

The ultimate WEC event has come to its end, as the winners of the event are declared. With WEC merging with UFC, a new bantamweight champion was named and a new lightweight contender is called.

The last World Extreme Cagefighting’s historic and promotion-ending event has officially come to its terminal point, and the WEC 53 results are in. The WEC 53 features a championship doubleheader that took place at the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Last night’s WEC event highlights a lightweight title match between Benson Henderson and Anthony Pettis. In addition to this, Bantamweight kingpin, Dominic Cruz, puts his title on the line as he locked horns with Scott Jorgensen. Due to the UFC-WEC merger, the winner of Henderson vs. Pettis bout will get a UFC lightweight title shot, while the triumphant fighter of Cruz vs. Jorgensen will be crowned as UFC’s first 135-pound champion.

Horodecki vs Cerrone at WEC 53

It looks like Mark Hominick won't be the only Team Tompkins product who will get a step up in competition for his next WEC fight. Chris Horodecki is slated to take on former WEC number one lightweight contender Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone at WEC 53.

Another member of Team Tompkins will step up in a competition for the next WEC fight. Chris Horodecki is set to lock horns with Donald Cerrone at WEC 53, on December 16 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Chris Horodecki is carrying a 16-2 record in his resume, but was not able to grace his way impressively under the WEC banner. Donald Cerrone, on the other hand, is carrying a notable unanimous decision win over WEC lightweight champ Jamie Varner.

Anthony Pettis Scores Submission Win at WEC 50

A most-promising performance transpired at WEC 50 last Wednesday night, as Anthony Pettis gained the upper hand for not less than 14 minutes before getting Shane Roller tap out in the last nine seconds of Round 3.

Pettis’ performance scored him a submission win and a shot at the World Extreme Cagefighting 155-pound division title. His significantly improved takedown defense should not escape the eyes of keen enthusiasts at the event. Roller could not even hide his frustration when Pettis struck him with a variety of kicks.

His ground game had been laudable, as well as his ability to keep the fight standing. And, as MMA Fighting noted, “the way he finished the fight was a thing of beauty, escaping from a guillotine choke and then catching Roller in the triangle that made Roller tap at the 4:51 mark of the third.”
