Tito Ortiz' neck injury forced Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney to cancel their first ever PPV event

Bellator MMA encountered a major roadblock leading up to their first ever PPV event when Tito Ortiz injured his neck while preparing for his showdown with fellow UFC legend Quinton Jackson in Bellator 106. As a result, Bellator scrapped the headlining bout and they turned the PPV into a regular event on Spike TV. The lightweight title fight between Eddie Alvarez and Michael Chandler will now serve as the main event in the four-fight main card that includes the featherweight title fight between Pat Curran and Daniel Strauss and an interim light heavyweight title fight with Muhammed Lawal and Emanuel Newton. The card will also feature the “Fight Master” finals between Joe Riggs and Mike Bronzoulis.

The UFC veteran will make his debut in Bellator’s first pay-per-view event headlined by UFC legends Tito Ortiz and Rampage Jackson. He is slated to face the hard hitting Florida native Patrick Cenoble in the Spike TV preliminary cards.

Pat Curran wins Bellator 48 Featherweight Tournament after defeating Marlon Sandro through a head-kick knockout.

Pat Curran has just added himself on the win column after defeating former Sengoku Featherweight Champion and Pancrase Featherweight Champion, Marlon Sandro, at Bellator 48 last Saturday. Viewers of the said bout were all amazed as Curran finished Sandro in just four minutes after the second round through a knockout via head kick.

Bellator 48, Set for August 20 at Mohegan Sun

It's now official! Bellator's Summer Series will now be a complete trilogy event, as Bellator 48 is now slated on August 20 at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

The third event of Bellator Fighting Championships’ Summer Series trilogy now has a venue. Bellator Chairman and CEO, Bjorn Rebney, announced last Wednesday that Bellator 48 will possibly kick off at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on August 20. Bellator 48 will air on MTV2 live, and will feature the last round of the promotion’s latest eight-man, 145-pound tournament.

Bellator’s Summer Series will take action on June 25 with Bellator 46, wherein Marlon Sandro, Pat Curran, Ronnie Mann and Nazareno Malegarie will square off against Genair da Silva, Luis Palomino, Adam Schindler and Jacob Devree respectively. The tournament’s semifinals will take place at Bellator 47 on July 23, with Joe Warren defending his featherweight championship belt contra Patricio Freire.

With Bellator’s Summer Series now officially pinned as a trilogy event, it’s time to heat the anticipation up.

Bellator, Haste to Feature Featherweight Tourney in Summer Series

Bellator 46 could not wait much longer, and its gearing up to bring the summer series to the fans.

After Bellator 45, the promotion is now quickly heading on its Bellator 46: Summer Series that will take place on June 25 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

To air on MTV2 for the rest of the summer, Bellator 46: Summer Series will feature a middleweight bout between Josh Samman and Mike Bernhard and a heavyweight duel pitting Tony Johnson Jr. with an opponent yet to be determined. Meanwhile, Jessica “Jag” Aguilar and Carla Esparza will step once again on the arena for the womens division.

MMA fans are in for some good news, as Bjorn Rebney confirmed that the Eddie Alvarez vs Pat Curran fight is all set for Bellator 39.

Bellator Chairman and CEO, Bjorn Rebney, confirmed that the once canceled title fight between Eddie Alvarez and Pat Curran is now ready to take action. The lightweight bout pitting the two fighters will take place in Bellator 39 on April 2, at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, and will also air on MTV2.

Eddie Alvarez is carrying a six-fight winning streak and an 11-1 record in his past 12 fights. Two of his victories came via stoppage over Matt Lee and Joachim Hansen. Meanwhile, Pat Curran has four straight wins and a 6-7 record. He also punched his way in for the title match with notable wins from Mike Ricci, Roger Huerta and Toby Imada.

Good and Askren: Battle of the Undefeated for Bellator 33

These two main are truly undefeated. Both Good and Askren are all the time victorious whether it is a small or big fight. Let's see who remains undefeated and who goes home with a slash on his record.

The undefeated Bellator Fighting Championships welterweight champion Lyman Good (10-0 MMA, 3-0 BFC) is here to cunquer the stage. This will mark the return to action for the first time after his claiming victory on June 2009. Facing two season tourney winner Ben Askren (6-0 MMA, 3-0 BFC).

It is formally announced today by Bellator officers. Good and Askren will cross paths on the main card of Bellator 33. It will take place on October 21 at Temple University’s Liacouras Center in Philadelphia.

The event is headlined by a non-title bout between champ Eddie Alvarez and UFC veteran Roger Huerta. It will air on FOX Sports Net.

“Lyman dominated season one and Ben dominated season two,” Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney stated in today’s release. “This is a great welterweight championship fight between two world-class undefeated welterweights.”

The titlle fight is Good’s first fight since his success in 2009. He meets fellow undefeated Askren who found success in MMA as well.
