Frankie Edgar Favors MMA Overtime

January and February 2011 brought two high-profile draws, the UFC 125: Edgar vs Maynard and UFC 127: Penn vs Fitch. Both fight graced a slew of controversy and left their respective division in confusion. Stating the fight as a “draw” frustrates the fans and the fighters, and can even cause disorientation than resolution. But can the governing bodies of MMA find some way to improve the current system?

Bas Rutten thinks so. Bas Rutten, MMA legend and HDNet’s “Inside MMA” show host, addressed a viewer’s e-mail that suggests an overtime round. The overtime round can resolve high-profile bouts like title fights and No. 1 contender matches. Aside from the host, Frankie Edgar also supported the idea.
