With mixed martial arts constantly broadening its horizon, the Israeli Fighting Championship aims to change the way Middle East embrace the sport. The IFC will hold its first event, entitled Genesis, at the Nokia Theater in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, November 9. Topping the 13-fight line-up is a heavyweight match-up between Jeff Monson and Sergey Shemetov. Along with Monson and Shemetov is another headline bout between Ricco Rodriguez and Daniel Tabera. Something new is coming to the Middle East, as Israel Fighting Championship is penciled to grace its first event in Tel-Aviv. Can they be the UFC promotion of the Middle East with Bennett bowing down?
Charles Bennett has been forced to withdraw from Israel Fighting Championship’s inaugural event next Tuesday. According to some sources, it was due to Bennett’s passport set to expire during his time in Israel. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time to renew it. Thus, Thiago Meller is slated to take his place in the November 9 tourney, to face Ariel Abargel. More notable fighters like Frank Trigg, Ricco Rodriguez, Hermes Franca, Rameau Thierry Sokodjou and Shonie Carter are also set to compete for the card. The IFC: Genesis will be held at the Nokia Arena in Tel-Aviv.
The Israel Fighting Championship is owned by three Israeli businessmen, who aims to become the UFC-sized promotion in Middle East. Mike Ben-Avi, an American representative for the organization, believes that they are not another promotion and another show.
