Tim Kennedy flattens out Rafael Natal in the headline bout of UFC Fight for the Troops 3
Fort Campbell – US Army veteran Tim Kennedy did not disappoint in front of his fellow service man inside the packed Fort Campbell Hangar in Kentucky when he bagged his first KO of the Night honors after knocking out Rafael Natal in the first round of their headlining bout.
Rafael Natal opened the round strong by constantly landing leg kicks to his stalking opponent. Kennedy’s leg has started to show marks from the leg kicks by the middle part of the round. Despite that, the 10 year army veteran continued with his game plan of pressuring his elusive opponent back into the cage. His patience finally paid off in the dying seconds of the first round when he landed a lunging left hook that sent Natal to the canvass. Kennedy followed up with a few strikes to finish him off before Herb Dean steps in to put a halt to the action at 4:40 of the first round. The loss to Kennedy snapped the three fight winning streak of the Brazilian, his record now stands at 17-5, 5-3-1 inside the octagon.Read the rest of the article »
A welterweight bout has just been added to Strikeforce Challengers 19 event, which will take place this Friday in Las Vegas.
A late addition to Friday’s Strikeforce Challengers 19 fight card was confirmed, as KOTC champion – Quinn Mulhern (15-2 MMA, 0-1 SF) – is now set to meet Danny Davis (6-4-1 MMA, 0-1 SF) on the event’s preliminary card.
Strikeforce Challengers 19 will be held at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The night’s main card, which headlines the bout between Lorenz Larkin and Nick Rossborough, will be aired on Showtime.
Quinn Mulhern – who was trained as a jiu-jitsu fighter – just made his official Strikeforce debut at the “Strikeforce Challengers 16: Fodor vs Terry” event, where he suffered a decision loss to Jason High. The said misfortune broke his seven-fight win streak, which consisted of six stoppages and his KOTC championship victory over Koffi Adzitso.
Danny Davis, on the other hand, is a Muay Thai fighter who also holds a jiu-jitsu purple belt. “Dee1″ ceased his two consecutive losses with a whopping Brabo-choke submission victory over Mike Dizak at the SCC – Superior Cage Combat 2 event.

Due to the recent earthquake and tsunami disaster that hit Japan, MMA fighter - Satoshi Ishii - was scrapped from Strikeforce Challengers 15 roster.
Last Monday, Strikeforce officials announced that light heavyweight fighter, Lorenz Larkin, will step in to replace Satoshi Ishii to face Scott Lighty on Friday’s Strikeforce Challengers 15. Satoshi Ishii’s participation was another casualty of the recent Japan earthquake. Due to the cataclysmic event, the fighter was unable to secure a visa in time for the fight.
“This is definitely a step up for me, but I’m excited and looking forward to the challenge. Lighty’s a good fighter with a lot of experience. But I’ve trained hard, I’m in good shape and I’m confident,” Lorenz Larkin said.
Fighting Insider is hoping that Japan will recover soon, and that fans may see more Japanese MMA fighters in the next tourneys.View Article Source »
