Kendall Grove returns to the win column; Andrei Arlovski knocks out Ray Lopez during the bout's third round; and Raegan Penn made a remarkable debut at ProElite 1.
ProElite just held its first MMA event last Saturday at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. The crowd was filled with excitement and thrills, as most participants performed their quick finishes.
In the night’s main card, UFC fighter – Kendall Grove – listed his name on the win column after defeating Joe Riggs through a submission victory. The latter forced the former up against the cage, but his neck was immediately caught by Kendall Grove’s long arms. The former UFC Fighter won the bout via guillotine choke, just 59 seconds into the first round.
Following four consecutive losses, Andrei Arlovski has attained the title belt once again. He finished heavyweight fighter Ray Lopez through a TKO during the third round of the match. Although Andrei Arlovski wasn’t able to defeat Ray Lopez in a quick manner, he still grabbed the evening’s spotlight after getting on top of his contender and defeating him with powerful punches.
BJ Penn’s younger brother, Reagan Penn, also made his promotional debut remarkable. Through having his brother’s support and fighting tips, Reagan Penn attained the victory over Paul Gardner. The newcomer impressively pulled the latter into the mat, and finished him using a rear-naked choke technique in just 70 seconds after the bell rings.

MMA promotion company, ProElite, slated Andrei Arlovski for an August 27 bout in Honolulu.
Former UFC heavyweight champion – Andrei Arlovski – has recently signed for ProElite, a MMA promoter company, and is now scheduled for a spot on their upcoming event in August 27 at the Blaisdell Center in Honolulu — based on KHON2’s reports.
Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski will be returning in the cage after a series of face-off against Fedor Emelianenko, Brett Rogers, and Sergei Kharitonov. As of now, ProElite has not yet announced who will be Andrei Arlovski’s contender. But as rumors claimed that Tim Sylvia has also signed for the company, one can assume that it’s possible for the two fighters to have a bout on the said event.Read the rest of the article »
Spike will not let the viewers to miss an interesting UFC 130 fight cards featuring Miguel Torres vs. Demetrious Johnson and Tim Boetsch against Kendall Grove.
Spike will broadcast two preliminary UFC 130 card featuring Miguel Torres vs. Demetrious Johnson and the bout between Kendall Grove and Tim Boetsch on May 28, at 8 pm ET.
It is a tough match between Miguel Torres and Demetrious Johnson. Johnson, 9-1, remains undefeated in his last three consecutive fights including his victory against Kid Yamamoto at UFC 126. On the other hand, Torres, 39-3, won his most recent bout against Antonio Banuelos via unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, Kendall Grove and Tim Boetsch are looking for a victory after they were both defeated in their last bout. Grove lost to Demian Maia last December while Boetsch was defeated by Phil Davis via submission at UFC 123. TUF season 3 winner, Kendall Grove, will welcome Tim Boetsch in the Octagon for a middleweight brawl. Meanwhile, Demetrius Johnson will square off with Renan Barao in a 135-pound showdown. In addition to this, UFC 130 will also highlight a light heavyweight match between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Matt Hamill. Also in the card is a heavyweight duel pitting Frank Mir and Roy Nelson.

Demian Maia is set to collide with Kendall Grove at The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale on December 4, at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Demian Maia secured eight out of his 13 career wins via submission, and earned four Submission of the Night bonuses in his nine appearances in the Octagon. The 33-year-old Brazilian fighter last fought in August when he knocked out Mario Miranda by unanimous decision. Andchoring his resume are victories from Ed Herman, Chael Sonnen and Dan Miller.
Kendall Grove, meanwhile, has not competed since earning a split decision over Goran Reljic at UFC 116. Kendall Grove will battle it put with Demain Maia at the TUF 12 on Dec. 4 in las Vegas.
The coming fight is an advantage for Grove because this is his chance to rise to the next level and extend his existence in the UFC. Also, this is a chance for him to redeem a good image after trashing Spike TV and the reality show, The Ultimate Fighter.
Last July, Grove got his much-needed win. On the other hand, Maia won over Mario Miranda at UFC 118.
