After the sudden turn of events, Dustin Poirier will now face John Grispi on UFC 125. Grispi’s to-be opponent, Jose Aldo, backed out due to his back injury. Matchmaker Joe Silva made the smooth transition possible.

The Aldo vs. Grispi could have been the co-main event of UFC 125 which will take place on Jan. 1. The event marks the coming together of WEC and UFC.

Grsipi is currently enjoying his 10-fight winning streak. Now, he needs to get past Poirier to dominate the top spot.

Meanwhile, Poirier has eight victories and one loss on his record. He lost on his WEC debut against Urijah Faber but was able to redeem himself at WEC 52.
