As the Zuffa vs Team Golden Glory fight heats up, three more fighters from the Holland gym were released from their contract.
The battle between Team Golden Glory and Zuffa is heating up, as three more fighters from the Holland stable were released from Strikeforce and UFC.
Based from a lead trainer named Martijn de Jong – which is the one who first post the said news on Twitter – the fighters that were released from Zuffa are former Strikeforce champion, Marloes Coenen, Valentijn Overeem and UFC heavyweight fighter, Jon Olav Einemo. Shane Carwin will face newcomer, Jon Olav Einemo, at UFC 131: Brock Lesnar vs Junior dos Santos.
UFC President, Dana White, officially announced that Shane Carwin will face promotional newcomer, Jon Olav Einemo at UFC 131 on June. As previously reported, Shane Carwin was expected to fight the UFC Fight Night 24 winner of Jon Madsen vs Mike Russow. However, the promotion informed the interim heavyweight champ that Einemo specifically requested a fight with him.
A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and grappling specialist, Jon Olav Einemo is a 35-year-old Norwegian who won the 2003 ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship. He has fought in Shooto and PRIDE, and anchors with him six career victories. Shane Carwin, on the other hand, hasn’t fought since UFC 116 after suffering a second round submission loss to former heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar. He was expected to face Ben Rothwell at UFC 131, but the latter is still undergoing recovery from a recent surgery.

Pride of Abu Dhabi Combat Club’s Jon Olav Einemo is now a resident of the UFC cage. The two-time division champ signed a UFC contract. The news was shared by Einemo’s fight team, Golden Glory.
The Norwegian has not competed on the professional scene since November 2006 due to unfortunate leg infection. However, his last fight went victorious. It garnered a submission win over James Thompson during the “Too Hot To Handle: Pride and Honor.”
Einemo was the first man to defeat ADCC absolute champion, Roger Gracie. In the MMA scene, five out of Einemo’s six professional wins were via first round submission.View Article Source »
