Following Friday's Strikeforce Challengers 18: Gurgel vs Duarte event, the Nevada State Athletic Commission released its official list of suspended fighters.
Although they have both attained victories at the Strikeforce Challengers 18 event last Friday, Joe Duarte and Nate James could still be sent out of the cage for several months. Last Monday, The Nevada State Athletic Commission released the post-fight medical suspension list for the Strikeforce Challengers 18.
The Strikeforce Challengers 18, which was the promotion’s second event at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, headlined the lightweight bout between Joe Duarte and Jorge Gurgel. Duarte got the victory but could be suspended until February 2012 due to a finger injury.

Today's weigh-in ceremony for “Strikeforce Challengers 18: Gurgel vs. Duarte” event is open to the public. MMA fans are encouraged to attend.
MMA fans are invited to be part of the “Strikeforce Challengers 18: Gurgel vs Duarte” fighter weigh-ins. The festivities will begin at exactly 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT local time) at the grounds of the Key West Ballroom of the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Venue will be opened to the public at 6:30 p.m. ET.
The Strikeforce Challengers 18 event will be held on Friday, August 12 at the The Pearl — also located on the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The upcoming event is said to be the second Strikeforce Challengers show to take place in Las Vegas. The first one is the July 22’s Strikeforce Challengers 17, which successfully carries more than 1,800 viewers and huge ticket sales of $42,987.50. However, not all tickets were sold for the event. In fact, 76% of them were left and were eventually distributed as complimentary tickets.

Strikeforce Challengers 18 now carries nine pairs of match-ups, as the promotion added a Sterling Ford vs Milton Vieira bout last Wednesday.

After winning his previous match against Billy Vaughan, Jorge Gurgel erases his two-fight losing streak on Strikeforce and hopes to make it two in a row victory with Joe Duarte. Joe Duarte, a veteran from the 8th season of the ‘Ultimate Fighter’, will make his second appearance on Strikeforce. He won his debut fight over Saas Awad at the Strikeforce: Diaz vs Daley tournament.
