The heavyweight battle pitting Fedor Emelianenko and Jeff Monson is now official!
The anticipated heavyweight battle between Fedor Emelianenko and Jeff Monson is now official, as M-1 Global announced last Thursday. The said match will go down on November 20 at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow.
Once regarded as world’s best heavyweight fighter, Fedor Emelianenko has stumbled of late. After being undefeated for the past nine years, he has dropped his last three bouts. Fedor Emelianenko was then released of his Strikeforce contract afterwards. Meanwhile; Jeff Monson’s recent appearance was a Strikeforce match against Daniel Cormier last June 18, wherein he loss via unanimous decision.
The Fedor Emelianenko vs Jeff Monson bout will mark the former’s return to action in the Russian soil since a 2007 victory over Matt Lindland. While little is known about the November 20 event, M-1 Global is said to be in negotiations with Showtime Sports in an attempt to broadcast the tournament on a premiere cable network.View Article Source »
Fedor Emelianenko finally got an opponent in Jeff Monson, as they are set to lock horns on November 12 in Russia.
As Fighting Insider reported last Monday, M-1 Global co-founder – Vadim Finkelstein – said that Fedor Emelianenko’s next event will be in Russia. In relation to this, Jeff Monson tweeted recently that he will face The Last Emperor on November 12.
Fedor Emelianenko was released from Strikeforce after dropping his third consecutive loss against Dan Henderson. Meanwhile, Jeff Monson is most known for his four-fight run in UFC in 2006. That victory streak ended with a loss to Tim Sylvia at UFC 65.
