Adlan Amagov is looking to climb the welterweight ranks. Says he wants Shields or Kampmann for his next fight
Adlan Amagov wants to test himself against tougher oppositions after disposing T.J. Waldburger in the first round of their fight in UFC 166. The Russian prospect, which scored the most brutal knockout in the event, has set his sights on top rated welterweights Jake Shields and Martin Kampmann for his next UFC appearance.
“It all depends what UFC has planned for me, but I would like to fight in New Jersey on Feb. 1,” states Amagov through his interpreter. “I have a lot of fans in the area who would love to come support me. I’ll face whoever UFC wants to put in front of me, but I’d like to fight Martin Kampmann or Jake Shields.”Read the rest of the article »
UFC Fight Night 29 post-fight test results: not a single fighter tested positive for banned substances
The Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) has released the results of the post fight tests of all the fighters that competed at UFC Fight Night 29 and surprisingly, all of them passed the test. Four men from the main cards had previously failed the test including the man of the night Jake Shields. Prior to the upset win over Maia, Shields was tested for an undisclosed substance that resulted in the overturning of the Ed Herman win to No Contest. The other three are Thiago Silva, Joey Beltran and the Rousimar Palhares.
Silva, who defeated Matt Hamill in his recent fight, has already failed the test twice. He faked a urine sample in the post-fight test of his decision win over Brandon Vera in UFC 125. Silva would again fail the drug test by testing positive for marijuana after handing the first career loss of Stanislav Nedkov in November last year.
Both Palhares and Beltran were suspended after failing the post-fight tests of UFC on FX 6 that was held last December in Australia. In that incident, Palhares tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone while Beltran was positive for anabolic steroids.

Demian Maia believes a title shot is next if he beats Jake Shields in an exciting fashion
Sao Paolo, Brazil – BJJ black belt Demian Maia expects that he will get the winner of George St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks if he beats Jake Shields in an impressive fashion tomorrow at UFC Fight Night 29. Maia is on a tear since dropping to 170 lbs. He won all three of his welterweight bouts against notable oppositions in Dong Hyun Kim, Rick Story and most recently Jon Fitch. After an open training in Barurei Brazil, Meia spoke to the media and says that he is anticipating a title fight if he wins convincingly against Shields.
“I hope I can get the chance after I win,” Maia said. “It will be four wins in a row. I’ve already fought for the title in the middleweight (division), so I’ll be better ranked. The other fighters ranked higher than me already fought for the (welterweight) title.”Read the rest of the article »
Jake Shields expects GSP to win against Johny Hendricks, he also said that he would love to get another shot at the champion
Former welterweight contender Jake Shields knows what it’s like is to face George St-Pierre in the octagon. He was soundly beaten by the welterweight champion in their uneventful matchup in 2011. It was considered as an off night for GSP but he failed to take advantage and lost a lopsided decision.
Shields believes that Johny Hendricks will suffer the same fate once the current no.1 contender and GSP faces each other in the main event of UFC 167.
“St-Pierre vs. Hendricks is a good fight, I think it’s a really exciting fight and one I want to watch. But ultimately, I think ‘GSP’ is so good at what he does. He’s such a smart fighter.” I think ‘GSP’ will end up using his distance, range – his standup – and end up taking Hendricks down and wearing him down and winning a tough fight,” Shields said.Read the rest of the article »
