July 15's Shark Fights 17 event, to feature Matt Horwich vs Jake Rosholt and Ricco Rodriquez vs Karl Knothe, is now all set!

Another MMA event to be held this month is Shark Fights 17, which will highlight the rematch between Matt Horwich and Jake Rosholt. Also included in the card is a 230-pound catchweight face off between former UFC champ, Ricco Rodriquez, and Karl Knothe. The said event will take place at the Dr. Pepper Arena in Texas on July 15, and will air live on HDNet.

Jake Rosholt (11-3) will be returning in the cage to avenge Matt Horwich (26-18-1), whom defeated him through a third-round TKO during the Xtreme Fight Night event in Oklahoma last November. According to Wes Nolen, Shark Fights’ executive, “Shark Fights strives to give the fans what they want and they demanded a Horwich-Rosholt rematch. With both combatants having something to prove this is going to be war. Shark Fights is thrilled to have a show in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.”

Jake Rosholt’s DQ Loss to John Ott, Overturned to No Contest

Jake Rosholt's disqualification loss against John Ott at Titan Fighting Championships 18 was overturned to No Contest by the Kansas Athletic Commission.

The Kansas Athletic Commission overturned Jake Rosholt’s disqualification loss to John Ott to a No Contest, following the short review of the fight that took place last May 27 at Titan Fighting Championships 18. However, KAC Boxing Commissioner – Troye Blackmon – declined to elaborate the basis of his decision. Jake Rosholt’s manager, on the other hand, said that it is a just outcome — considering the circumstances of the fight.

It should be recalled that Jake Rosholt was disqualified from his fight against John Ott at Titan Fighting Championship 18, after he allegedly threw an illegal knee in the third round. But in a subsequent interview, the fighter pointed out that the knee was intentional. Jake Rosholt also argued that the decision should be changed to Technical Decision — just like what happened to the Jamie Varner vs Donald Cerrone match at WEC 38.

Meanwhile, John Ott and his management could not be reached for comment.
