Reigning UFC lightweight king, Frankie "The Answer" Edgar, has stood out of the promotion's list of top fighters after bagging the "Best Fighter of the Year" award at the Highly Unofficial UFC 2010 Awards.

The reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, Frankie Edgar, dethrones George St-Pierre after taking the “Best Fighter of the Year” award at UFC’s Highly Unofficial 2010 last December 19. His recognition was due to defeating BJ Penn twice. According to writer, Thomas Gerbasi:

“Rightfully deserving of a lightweight title shot, Frankie Edgar still wasn’t considered likely to be the one to defeat the seemingly unstoppable 155-pound king, BJ Penn. Edgar and his team just ignored the odds, put together an intense training camp and fight plan, and walked into Abu Dhabi in April with one goal in mind – to win the belt.”

Frankie Edgar currently anchors a professional record of 13-1, and is slated to lock horns against Gray Maynard on New Year’s Day. The full list of commentary is available at UFC’s official website.
