A heavyweight title match pitting Guram Gugeneshvili and Kenny Garner is now official for M-1 Challenger 27.

M-1 Global officially announced that a heavyweight title rematch between Guram Gugeneshvili and Kenny Garner will take place for M-1 Challenger 27.

The reigning heavyweight champion, Guram Gugeneshvili, has yet to taste defeat as a professional. His victory at the M-1 Selection Western Europe tournament last October earned him his shot at the world title against Kenny Garner. Meanwhile, Kenny Garner also won a M-1 Selection tournament to earn his shot at the belt. Most recently, he finished Pat Bennett in the main event of M-1 Challenger 26.

Airing on Showtime, M-1 Challenger 27 will kick off on October 14 at the Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix. The event will be broadcast at 11:00 pm ET, with delay on West Coast.

Pat Bennett is all geared up! Not against Guram Gugeneshvili, but to avenge his loss to Kenny Garner.

Though his heavyweight title shot for M-1 Global was scrapped, Pat Bennett is still glad to revenge his loss against Kenny Garner at M-1 Challenge 26.

“As much as I wanted to get a title fight, to avenge one of my losses is just as good. I’m definitely pumped about that.”

It should be recalled that Pat Bennett was defeated by Kenny Garner last September at M-1 Selection 2010 Americas Finals. That said, he’s working on his striking in preparation for his rematch against Kenny Garner. But not only does Pat Bennett feels all geared up, he’s also ready to headline M-1 Global’s second live broadcast on Showtime.

A victory at M-1 Challenge 26 will earn him a shot for the heavyweight title. And is Guram Gugeneshvili is not yet back in the mix, Pat Bennett is willing to make himself busy.
