Gerald Harris vs Kazuhiro Nakamura, Booked for DREAM 17 in Japan

Newly signed, Gerald Harris, is set to face UFC veteran, Kazuhiro Nakamura, at Dream 17 on September 24.

Recent reports disclosed that promotion’s new comer, Gerald Harris, has verbally agreed to meet Japanese mixed martial artist, Kazuhiro Nakamura, on the upcoming DREAM 17 event.

DREAM 17 is expected to be held at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan on September 24. Broadcast plans for the said event stays unknown, but the promotion confirmed that they are currently negotiating with television partner – HDNet – in terms of airing the match-ups.

Gerald Harris (18-4 MMA, 0-0 DREAM), a former member of Ultimate Fighting Championship, just signed his multi-fight deal under DREAM last July 25, 2011. Following his release from the UFC, he obtained a unanimous decision victory over journeyman – Anthony Ruiz – at Tachi Palace Fights 9. However, this success turns into a misery after losing to Maiquel Jose Falcao Goncalves and James Head via unanimous decisions.

Gerald Harris Signs Deal with DREAM

After his UFC release, Gerald "Hurricane" Harris now finds a new home with DREAM.

Eight months following his unprecedented release from UFC, Gerald “Hurricane” Harris inks a deal with DREAM. As posted on his Twitter account:

“I’m all healed up and ready to roll. I just signed a multi-fight deal with Dream. It’s going to be great in Japan, but business first!”

Gerald Harris was suddenly released by UFC last November, after his decision loss to Maiquel Falcao. Since then, he dropped a close decision to James Head. He also recently out pointed Anthony Ruiz under Tachi Palace Fights banner.

DREAM’s next tournament, DREAM 17, is set to take action on September 25, in Saitama, Japan.

Gerald Harris vs Joe Vedepo on UFC 118

Alessio Sakara out. It's now Gerald Harris against Joe Vedepo on UFC 118.

Italian fighter Alessio Sakara was off the UFC 118 card due to injuries on the knee. The UFC middleweight is most likely to be replaced by Joe Vedepo on the fight against Gerald Harris.

The original plan was for Sakara to face Jorge Rivera. The latter also backed out due after breaking his arm. Harris was the one who replaced Rivera and will stand against another replacement like himself. There are no official statement about the changes but there was already verbal agreement according to the source of MMAFigthing.
