With Dan Henderson now a free agent, will he face Anderson Silva next?

Despite being a free agent, Dan Henderson is definitely a wanted man. In the past few days, there were rumors that UFC executives would want him to face Anderson Silva during the promotion’s debut in FOX. However, it is already reported that Anderson Silva will not compete in the November 12 event. Moreover, Dan Henderson’s future has nothing close to concrete.

According to his manager, Aaron Crecy, that preliminary talks have just started a few days ago — following the fighter’s vacation. While Dan Henderson is said to haven’t spent much time thinking about his next home, it is possible that he will have a UFC overture. It is also feasible that he might green lit the first UFC event in FOX. However, the new fight might still depend on a few things, including signing a deal with the MMA promotion giant.

As said by Aaron Crecy: “He’s open to going back. And to face Anderson, that’s probably the only fight he’d consider at 185. If they offered it, I’m sure he’d accept that, but that’s my own opinion. At this point of his career, he just wants to have good, big fights.”

Dana White said in MMAjunkie that Anderson Silva will not be fighting for the promotion's November debut in FOX.

According to UFC President, Dana White, middleweight champion – Anderson Silva – wants big fights from opponents in different weight class. However, a quick return at November’s UFC on FOX is not in the champ’s cards.

Dana White said in an one-on-one interview at MMAjunkie that Anderson Silva will not fight on the promotion’s November 12 debut in FOX. However, he left the door open for just anything else.

“Anderson wants big fights, and he doesn’t know how much longer he’s going to fight. But he wants big fights. He wants fights that are going to mean something.”

But although Anderson Silva won’t be able to have a quick turn around now, Dana White expects the fighter to fulfill his promise and compete five more times over the next two years. If the middleweight champion remains undefeated and continues to duel against big names, the UFC president said that the fighter will have quite the retirement nest egg.

UFC announced the first bout for the FOX Fight Night, as Dustin Poirier meets Pablo Garza on November 12.

After UFC announced FOX Fight Night as their inaugural event for FOX, featherweights – Dustin Poirier and Pablo Garza – are said to meet for the event. The announcement was made on Thursday by UFC officials.

Dustin Poirier, a former WEC fighter, makes his third appearance in the UFC since moving to the said promotion. And it seems that he plans to keep his record clean since dropping down to featherweight. Dustin Poirier’s last two fights have seen him dominate former title contender, Josh Grispi, as well as pick up a tough win over British banger, Jason Young.

On the other hand, fellow WEC transport – Pablo Garza – is hoping to stop Dustin Poirier’s winning streak. He first blasted through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, Fredson Paixao, with a flying knee at the TUF 12 Finale show, and then submitting Yves Jabouin with a flying triangle choke at UFC 128 back in April.

The fight announcement marks the first official bout for the historic debut of the UFC on FOX, after the monumental deal was struck and announced earlier in Thursday.
