UFC announced the first bout for the FOX Fight Night, as Dustin Poirier meets Pablo Garza on November 12.
After UFC announced FOX Fight Night as their inaugural event for FOX, featherweights – Dustin Poirier and Pablo Garza – are said to meet for the event. The announcement was made on Thursday by UFC officials.
Dustin Poirier, a former WEC fighter, makes his third appearance in the UFC since moving to the said promotion. And it seems that he plans to keep his record clean since dropping down to featherweight. Dustin Poirier’s last two fights have seen him dominate former title contender, Josh Grispi, as well as pick up a tough win over British banger, Jason Young.
On the other hand, fellow WEC transport – Pablo Garza – is hoping to stop Dustin Poirier’s winning streak. He first blasted through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, Fredson Paixao, with a flying knee at the TUF 12 Finale show, and then submitting Yves Jabouin with a flying triangle choke at UFC 128 back in April.
The fight announcement marks the first official bout for the historic debut of the UFC on FOX, after the monumental deal was struck and announced earlier in Thursday.View Article Source »
After sending several messages back and forth in a social network, Carlos Condit and B.J. Penn both agreed to face each other inside the Octagon on October.
It seems that Carlos Condit and B.J. Penn are about to face each other inside the Octagon for an October bout, after exchanging messages on a social network with their fellow top ten welterweight — Jon Fitch. Carlos Condit sent a challenge to B.J. Penn, with the latter accepting it quickly. Now, the UFC is on board to set a match between the two fighters.
Carlos Condit’s manager, Malki Kawa, said in an interview that UFC matchmaker – Joe Silva – is now in the process to schedule a fight between the two welterweight contenders. However, even if the two fighters agreed to face each other on October, the match’s date is still undetermined. According to sources, UFC is planning to have a third event in October which will be set between the two shows currently scheduled.
The two scheduled shows for October are the UFC 136 on October 8 in Houston Texas, and UFC 137 on October 29 that will feature the bout between Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz in Las Vegas. If there will be another event on October aside from the said tournaments, it might be a UFC Fight Night show.

After losing their previous matches, Ken Stone and Donny Walker face each other at the upcoming UFC Fight Night: Shields vs Ellenberger.
It will be a must-win scenario for two bantamweight fighters, Ken Stone and Donny Walker, as they face each other on a 135-pound match at UFC Fight Night: Shields vs Ellenberger in September.
Even if Ken Stone had a strong start in his two fights under the Zuffa banner, it seems that he had come up short in both efforts. He lost his debut match in WEC against Eddie Wineland, as the latter brutally slammed him to the mat. This was followed by another loss to former title contender, Scott Jorgensen, back in June. A win in his upcoming match is the only way for him to guarantee his job at the UFC. So he will try hard to win over Donny Walker. On the other hand, Donny Walker also needs to win the said match after he loss on his debut fight against Jeff Hougland at UFC 132 earlier this month.
The two fighters will meet inside the Octagon on the undercard of UFC Fight Night in New Orleans on September 17.View Article Source »
At first, it was Danzig versus Wiman. Then, it became Escudero against Wiman. And now, it's a fight between Escudero and Oliveira. Will the opponent's door continue to revolve or this is the final ticket?
Sources close to the Fight Night event confirmed today that Charles Oliveira will replace Matt Wiman to face Efrain Escudero. The match was supposed to be a Mac Danzig versus Matt Wiman fight. But Mac Danzig was forced to withdraw from the co-main event. Then Escudero was called to replace Danzig. Unfortunately for Escudero, he was left without an opponent as Matt Wiman broke his arm. The UFC match maker Joe Silva comes into the scene by pairing Escudero with Charles Oliveira. Charles Oliveira (13-0) just made his debut at the UFC on Versus Two last August 1. In his 13 fights, he only went to a decision once. Efrain Escudero, on the other hand, just came off a victory over Dan Lauzon at UFC 114 last May 29.View Article Source »
