Kazushi Sakuraba has agreed to fight the promotion's newcomer and Nova Uniao's pride, Yan Cabral, at the upcoming DREAM.17 event.
The DREAM promotion just added the 10th bout to its DREAM.17 fight card. Officials recently confirmed that Japanese MMA veteran – Kazushi Sakuraba – and Yan Cabral had verbally agreed to meet at the upcoming event, which is expected to take place at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan on Sept. 24. Up to now, there are still no reports with regards to the broadcast plans, but DREAM and TV partner HDNet are already negotiating about a possible live or tape-delayed airing.
Kazushi Sakuraba (26-15-1 MMA, 3-5 DREAM) will be returning in the cage after attaining a TKO loss to Marius Zaromskis at the Welterweight Championship of DREAM Dynamite!! 2010. The bout ended when Sakuraba’s ear was partially torn off, declaring his third misfortune in a row — following a submission loss to Jason Miller and a decision loss over Ralek Gracie. The “Gracie Hunter,” who also fought under the UFC and Pride Fighting Championships during the earlier years of his MMA career, is now set to face Brazil’s famous fighter.
Newcomer, Yan Cabral (9-0 MMA, 0-0 DREAM), is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt holder and the pride of Nova Uniao camp. Since 2007, he has boasted a record of 9-0 with nine submission victories. However, he hasn’t fought since the SHC – Battle For The Belt in April 2010, wherein he defeated Djordje Beric through an Arm-Triangle Choke.
