Fighting Insider recently reported that UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar, and Gray Maynard pulled out from their UFC 130 bout due to injuries. Albeit the title holder admitted that his back injury was excruciatingly painful, Frankie Edgar explained that he’s planning to go for the bout despite the damage.

A bantamweight match-up pitting Cole Escovedo and Renan ‘Barao’ Pegado has been made official for UFC 130 last Tuesday. In addition to this, Michael McDonald will lock horns against Chris Cariaso on the said event. Verbal agreements between the two fighters are in place.
Cole Escovedo was tapped on short notice to face Barao at UFC 130, as the latter was supposed to duel versus Demetrius Johnson. However, Demetrius Johnson was called to step in for Brad Pickett due to an injury. He will now face Miguel Torres, while Cole Escovedo bows out from his scheduled May 6 match against Tommy Vargas at Tachi Palace Fights 9.

After Brad Pickett pulled out from his UFC 130 match due to undisclosed injury, Miguel Torres will now face Demetrious Johnson at the said event. That said, Renan Barao – Demetrious Johnson’s supposed opponent for the event – will now have to wait for another opponent.
Both Miguel Torres and Demetrious Johnson carries a unanimous decision win over Antonio Banuelos and Norifumi Yamamoto, respectively, during their debuts at UFC 126. Their match is expected to air on Spike TV’s live prelims, leading to the UFC 130 pay-per-view.

Cody McKenzie is on the rebound after suffering a rear-naked choke from Yves Edwards at UFC Fight for the Troops 2 last January. He has secured ten of his 11 career victories by submission. On the other hand, Bart Palaszewski will make his Octagon debut on May 28. He last fought at WEC 53, wherein he dropped a split decision to Kamal Shalorus. Bart Palaszewski secured 27 of his 35 career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.

Once again, UFC 130: Edgar vs Maynard 3 becomes official with six bouts. Last Wednesday, the promotion ratified a middleweight tilt between Brian Stann and Jorge Santiago.
Brian Stann was originally slated to face Wanderlei Silva at UFC 130: Edgar vs Maynard 3. However, the later was vocal with his refusal to fight against the American fan favorite. Hence, the UFC tapped Jorge Santiago – whose services to the promotion was recently reacquired – to fight in lieu of Wanderlei Silva.
