After Losing Two Bouts, UFC 135 Includes “Yagin VS. Assuncao” Match

After scrapping two matches, UFC 135: Jones vs Rampage now includes "Yagin vs. Assuncao"!

UFC announced on Wednesday night that two bouts included UFC 135: Jones vs. Rampage were scrapped. The said matches are the featherweight showdown between Diego Nunes and Manny Gamburyan, and the bantamweight clash pitting Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto vs Damacio Page. The fighters bowed out from the upcoming tournament due to the injuries. However, one match was added to the event: A face-off between the returning UFC veteran – Junior Assuncao – and the newest fighter of UFC, Eddie Yagin.

It is almost four years since the last time Junior Assuncao steps in the Octagon. He went 7-1 since, including victories from his six most recent bouts. On the other hand, Eddie Yagin – who have a career stats of 15-4-1 – also gone 7-1 in his recent bouts. After defeating former Bellator champion, Joe Soto, at Tachi Palace Fights 10 in August, he finally earned his shot in the UFC after more than a decade of fighting professionally.

The two fighters will likely be in the preliminary fight card of UFC 135 that will take place on Denver on September 24.

Eddie Yagin vs Junior Assuncao, on the Way For UFC 135

Former Tachi Palace champion, Eddie Yagin, will make his promotional debut against Junior Assuncao at UFC 135.

A featherweight match is now on its way to be a part of UFC 135 fight card. The bout will feature Tachi Palace champion, Eddie Yagin, will face Junior Assuncao on his debut match inside the Octagon. Some sources also confirmed that match now have verbal agreements in place for the September fight.

Eddie Yagin, a former Tachi Palace champion, makes his move to the UFC banner fresh off his win over former Bellator champion — Joe Soto. He had submitted Soto at Tachi Palace Fights 10 earlier this month, and now makes the shift to the UFC’s featherweight division where he brings a 15-4-1 overall career stat.

On the other hand, Junior Assuncao will make his return – after almost four years – to the Octagon this time at 145lbs. During his previous tenure with the promotion, he went 1-2 through three fights, but has amassed a six-fight win streak to earn his way back. In addition to this, Junior Assuncao is now at his natural weight class in the featherweight division.

The bout between Eddie Yagin and Junior Assuncao will be a part of UFC 135’s preliminary portion, which will air on Facebook for free.
