Strikeforce is targeting December for Gina Carano's return. Will this be for real now?

After bowing out from her scheduled bout against Sarah D’Alelio, Gina Carano’s camp released a cryptic message: “Gina is feeling much better after having undergone some medical attention and is looking forward to getting back into training very soon. She would like to express thanks to Team Jackson for a wonderful training camp, Strikeforce, and the fans.”

The said statement made a round of speculation emerged with regards to the needed “medical attention” that forced her to pull out. According to Dave Meltzer at the Wrestling Observer, the media will have the chance to skirt the issue this December. Based from an additional statement last Saturday:

“The December Strikeforce show is set for 12/17. Gilbert Melendez vs. Jorge Masvidal for the lightweight title plus Gina Carano are targeted for that show.”

Gina Carano hasn’t fought since August 2009, following her lost against Cris “Cyborg” Santos. Prior to her supposed return in Strikeforce, the fighter appeared in Steven Soderbergh’s film — Haywire.
