Following his victory against Dan Hardy at UFC on Versus 5, Chris Lytle announced his retirement.

After setting a record of ten post-fight bonuses, Chris Lytle announced his retirement after he out pointed Dan Hardy at UFC on Versus 5. While many probably shrugged their shoulders afterwards, his fans shed a few tears.

Since his TUF 4 loss against Matt Serra in 2006, Chris Lytle won ten fight bonuses in his 14 professional bouts which sums up to more than half a million dollar. Nevertheless, he will step out in the organization, claiming that he wants to spend more time for his family. He felt that he’s been neglecting his family after his upset defeat against Brian Ebersole.

But with Chris Lytle being able to slug out Dan Hardy, who made his way to the title shot against GSP in 2010, the UFC has suffered a great loss.

Chris Lytle, Dan Hardy and Donald Cerrone were able to get a bonus of $65,000 after their fights at UFC on Versus 5.

UFC on Versus 5, which took place in Milwaukee last Sunday night, is filled with finishes and exciting bouts that left UFC officials with some difficulty on choosing the post-fight awards and bonuses.

After the astonishing bout between Dan Hardy and Chris Lytle, it was almost easy to think that the two would be the Fight of the Night. Chris Lytle had difficulty in facing his opponent, but he was still able to manage to end the fight with a submission — earning him the Submission of the Night. He had earned $65,000 each for his two awards, and earned a 2012 Softail Blackline motorcycle from Harley Davidson for his victory. On the other hand, Dan Hardy scored a $65,000 bonus for his part in the fight and a promise from the UFC co-owner and CEO – Lorenzo Fertitta- that he will not be released from the contract despite his fourth consecutive loss.

Meanwhile, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone obtained the Knockout of Night bonus, which earned him $65,000, after knocking out Charles Oliveira through a hook punch and a knee.

Dan Hardy puts the possibility of loosing his career at the back of his mind, and said that “I feel unstoppable” prior to his match against Chris Lytle this coming Saturday at UFC on Versus 5. In relation to this, fans know that only few fighters with a 0-3 record stays in the UFC.

His current situation dictates that this can be his make or break bout, and he will be facing one of the most experienced welterweight around — Chris Lytle. Whoever said that Dan Hardy's 2010 is not on the winning side of the calendar, that's an understatement. His 2010 is worse.

The year 2010 is not a very good year for British banger, Dan Hardy. Not only did he failed to claim the welterweight belt wrapped around Georges St-Pierre, he also got knocked out from Top 10 welterweight fighters by Carlos Condit late last year.
