Jose Aldo wants Anthony Pettis' lightweight belt for a chance of to hold titles in two weight classes
Anthony Pettis was supposed to drop to 145 to challenge featherweight king Jose Aldo but an injury yanked him out of the fight. He later won a title of his own when he submitted Benson Henderson in UFC 164. Now, with Pettis as the lightweight champ, Jose Aldo feels that it is his turn to come after Pettis’ belt.
“I want it at lightweight,” states Aldo regarding a potential fight with Pettis. “That’s where his belt resides, so I can steal it. It would be better for me since I already have a belt of my own. My belt is already up on the wall at my home.”Read the rest of the article »

UFC announced a featherweight bout setting WEC's Cub Swanson against Ricardo Lamas for Nov. 12's UFC on Fox 1.
A new featherweight bout was added to the upcoming “UFC on Fox 1: Velasquez vs Dos Santos” event. UFC officials recently confirmed that MMA veterans, Cub Swanson and Ricardo Lamas, verbally agreed to meet on the show, which is expected to take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California on November 12.
The evening’s main card, which will headline a heavyweight championship bout between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos, will be aired on FOX. Swanson vs Lamas, meanwhile, will be featured on the night’s preliminary card.
The event’s title fight is the only one to get a TV slot. UFC on Fox 1 marks UFC’s debut on the network television and rolls out its 7-year agreement with FOX — a deal that entitles some UFC shows to be aired on FX and FUEL TV.Read the rest of the article »
Two more WEC standouts are making their way inside the Octagon, as Erik Koch and Cub Swanson meets at UFC 132.
UFC confirmed last Tuesday that UFC 132 will headline a bantamweight title fight between current champion, Dominick Cruz, and Urijah Faber. In addition to these, the promotion included two more former WEC standouts to the July 2 bout.
“Rising star Erik Koch, who took home Knockout of the Night at the stacked UFC 128 event, will take on Cub Swanson, who earned Fight Of The Night honors in his last outing.”
Erik Koch took home the Knockout of the Night award by taking down Raphael Assuncao. He is carrying a three-fight winning streak since his unanimous decision loss to Chad Mendes. Meanwhile, Cub Swanson will step inside the Octagon for the first time at UFC 132. His last appearance earned him a split decision win over Mackens Semerzier at WEC 52.
The UFC 132: Cruz vs Faber II will take place on July 2, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.View Article Source »
