Four days before the UFC on Versus 4 event, the promotion announced the withdrawal of T.J. Grant on his scheduled match against Charlie Brenneman.

UFC confirmed on Wednesday that T.J. Grant, after having an illness, withdrew from his scheduled fight against Charlie Brenneman in UFC on Versus 4. The event that will take place at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Sunday is now off with 11 total fights.

After losing on his previous match against Ricardo Almeida on UFC 124 last year, T.J. Grant was originally scheduled to fight Matt Riddle. Unfortunately, the fight was cancelled due to Matt Riddle’s injury. Then Charlie Brenneman replaced Matt Riddle to fight T.J. Grant. Charlie Brenneman, on the other hand, is hoping to get his second winning streak after his decision victory against Amilcar Alves.

UFC on Versus 4 will feature a welterweight bout pitting Nate Marquardt and Rick Story.

Brenneman and Alves, Slated for UFC’s January 22 Event

Brenneman and Alves both have their own wins and losses. But this time, a plan for an unannounced fight will make up for their respective defeats especially since both fighters lost on their UFC promotional debuts.

Welterweights Charlie Brenneman (11-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Amilcar Alves (11-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will face on an unannounced UFC event on January 22. The process now is being finalized including other line ups as well. This is a chance for both fighters to rebound on their respective UFC losses.

Brenneman signed with UFC earlier this year and scored a decision win over Jason High on his debut at UFC Fight Night 21. This victory had put extension to his 6 win streak which came from East coast fight circuit. But then, unfortunately, he suffered a TKO loss to Johny Hendricks last UFC 117 event in August.

He is now scheduled to meet Alves, who looks to it as a rebound after a loss to Mike Pierce after his debut at UFC 118. Prior to his UFC debut fight, he posted an 11-1 record in Brazil.
