UFC on Fox 9 gets deeper with the addition of Jamie Varner and Pat Healy
The highly stacked UFC on Fox 9 gets even more loaded with the addition of the lightweight showdown between Jamie Varner and Pat Healy. The two lightweights are known to put up highly entertaining fights and both are recipients of Fight of the Night honors.
However, both of them have also lost their previous matches. Varner is 1 – 2 after defeating Edson Barboza in a fight that is considered as the Upset of the Year of 2012. He dropped a split decision loss to Gleison Tibau in his last fight. Pat Healy also lost his recent outing. He was outclassed by the Russian prospect Khabib Nurmagomedov last September in UFC 165. Prior to that fight, Healy submitted Jim Miller but the win was overturned when Healy tested positive in marijuana in his post-fight test. He is 0-2 with 1 No Contest in his UFC career.
The event which will take place on December 14 at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California is headlined with a lightweight title bout between Anthony Pettis and Josh Thomson. Jose Aldo retains his belt, defeats Chad Mendes via KO
UFC featherweight champ José Aldo successfully defended his title against top contender Chad Mendes and wins by knockout at the recent UFC 142 that took place in the HSBC Arena Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Aldo fighting in front of his hometown crowd, finished the fight just one second remaining in the first round – knocking out Mendes with a knee. UFC 133 prelims, that was aired on Spike TV, obtained an average of 1.4 million viewers last Saturday night.
According to reports, last Saturday’s UFC 133 prelims gained an average of 1.4 million viewers on Spike TV, pulling an overall rating of 1.0. The recent UFC event was the No. 1 rated program among the key 18-49 male demographic for basic cable networks on Saturday night.
The said 1.4 million average is just too short to beat the UFC 131 numbers which gained 1.6 million viewers. However, UFC 133’s average viewer is enough to beat UFC 132 with 1.2 million viewers.View Article Source »
It's now official! The Gustafsson vs Matyunshenko and Mendes vs Yahya are set for UFC Prelims on Spike TV.
As Fighting Insider reported yesterday, two UFC 133 bouts will be set for a UFC Prelims on Spike TV. The official confirmed last Monday that the Alexander Gustafsson vs Vladimir Matyunshenko and Chad Mendes vs Rani Yahya matches will air on the one-hour program.
UFC 133: Evans vs Davis will feature a light heavyweight fight between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis to determine the next contender. The upcoming event will kick off on August 6, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

With UFC 132 done, it's time to give the spotlight on UFC 133: Evans vs Davis.
After UFC 132, the upcoming UFC 133 will be the next pay-per-view event that will have a UFC Prelims special on Spike TV. Although it is not yet set, a light heavyweight match between Alexander Gustafsson vs Vladimir Matyunshenko and a featherweight bout pitting Chad Mendes against Rani Yahya is said to air at UFC Prelims. The remaining preliminary bouts, on the other hand, are expected to stream on Facebook.

Due to injury acquired in training, Jose Aldo bows out of his UFC 133 match and gives way for Rani Yahya to face Chad Mendes.
UFC President, Dana White, announced last Tuesday that the featherweight champ incurred an injury during his training. That said, Chad Mendes might not have a title shot, but he will definitely have an interesting fight against Rani Yahya at UFC 133.
