Josh Barnett secured a slot on the semifinals of Strikeforce's Heavyweight Grand Prix by submitting Brett Rogers on last Saturday night's tournament.

Then he mounted Brett Rogers and pound him several times. However, the latter was able to escape, though he was placed back to the ground again.

As the second round started, Josh Barnett launched a left hook to Brett Rogers’ head and went for a takedown. As the latter fell to the ground, the former quickly performed an arm triangle choke that forced Brett Rogers to tap out. As the match ends, Josh Barnett grabs the microphone from broadcaster – Gus Johnson – to address his audience. He talks about his upcoming matches, and said that he will surely defeat and annihilate those who will stand against him.

On the semifinals of the Heavyweight tournament, Josh Barnett is scheduled to face Sergei Kharitonov later this year.

Strikeforce Heavyweight Champ, Brett Rogers, is having a new and special diet in preparation for his upcoming battle with Josh Barnett.

There is something new and different with Strikeforce’s Brett Rogers these past few days. If you will look closely to this heavyweight champ, he seems to be gaining pounds. Well, Brett Rogers explained that it’s not the training camp alone that boosted his weight. He is currently taking a new diet which he said is the key for being a “top to bottom” fighter. He even told MMAjunkie.com, “Because I understand that healthy is going to get you wealthy”.

For Brett Rogers, diet is not the only ingredient which would make him win in MMA. Even though he eats a lot of burgers and salads, it would never be enough to make strong kicks and great punches. However, he is trying to improve his skills and throw out any weaknesses he may have after several defeats against top-tier competition. The Strikeforce fighter said that there are some factors that hinder him from doing a good match, including a “tug of war” between him and an unnamed coach.

After being banned from fighting inside the US because of using a banned substance, Josh Barrnet gets a new fighter's license and will return inside the cage at Strikeforce.

After a positive test on a banned substance in 2009, which forced him to pull off his fight against Fedor Emelianko in Affliction promotion, Josh Barnett is back to fight again inside the cage. After getting a fighter’s license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Josh Barnett will face Brett Rogers in Strikeforce’s Heavyweight Grand Prix. It will be the former’s first fight in the United States after the incident about the banned substance.

An officer from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Susan Stanford, confirmed last Tuesday that Josh Barnett has met all the licensing requirements and was approved to fight for the upcoming Strikeforce event. Meanwhile, there are four other fighters on the Strikeforce card who were still not given a license to fight. However, they still have until 5:00 pm (Central Time) on Wednesday to meet those requirements.
