Bellator officials are still having hurdles on to where and when to kick off the welterweight title match between Ben Askren and Jay Hieron.

Bellator officials are close to naming a date and venue for the welterweight title match between Ben Askren and Jay Hieron. The said tournament could possibly take place at the University of Missouri. However, Bellator CEO – Bjorn Rebney – recently said that there could be hurdles.

“It really just boils down to whether or not Mizzou has the availability and the venue. I think it’s the kind of show in that market with its attachment to wrestling, it could do spectacular. Obviously, there would be tremendous, over-the-top support for Ben. But it’s just finding a date there.”

Bjorn Rebney also added that an October 8 date for Bellator 53 isn’t happening. Moreover, the CEO added that the event might be needed to take place elsewhere.

“We’re just trying to find the right location for that. Mizzou would be great, but I don’t know if we can pull it off given the availability.”

And while UFC President, Dana White, announced that his career in the Octagon is over, he is still hopeful that he’ll come back to the promotion someday. But for now, he just want to let his future opponents – Ben Askren, B.J. Penn, Paul Daley and Hector Lombard – know that he’s listening.

Nate Marquardt’s troubles began in June, when PSAC forbids him to fight against Rick Story due to elevated testosterone level. The commission then suspended the fighter, followed by his release from UFC. But earlier last Wednesday, the PSAC lifted Nate Marquardt’s suspension. That said, the middleweight fighter is now free to book his next contest.

"It feels great. Bellator builds warriors, and even those who hate me have to admit, I'm a freakin' warrior." - Ben Askren. Indeed, what Askren showed last Thrusday proved that he is a fighter.

Ben Askren showcased his Olympic wrestling skills last Thursday night at Bellator 33, en route to a unanimous decision win over Lyman Good. it was an entertaining fight, as Askren took most of the match under his control. It only took him 15 minutes in the first round to secure a take-down, and get on top of Good on the ground. However, Good was able to blow punches from the bottom, which made him get back to his feet. Askren got Good on his back on the second and third frame too, but his opponent was not able to take the pace he had in the first round.
