Bellator Announces the First Lightweight Tournament on March

Bellator Fighting Championships will soon came up a light heavyweight champion. The tournament promotion announced this week that its upcoming fourth season will host a 205-pound division. The fighter to get through this division will receive the first light heavyweight title and $100,000.

The tournament is expected to happen on March and six of the eight participants have already been selected.

“We’ve wanted to add a light heavyweight world championship tournament since season one but wanted to ensure that when we did it, we had a great group fighting for the title,” said Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney.
