Jose Aldo retains his belt, defeats Chad Mendes via KO
UFC featherweight champ José Aldo successfully defended his title against top contender Chad Mendes and wins by knockout at the recent UFC 142 that took place in the HSBC Arena Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Aldo fighting in front of his hometown crowd, finished the fight just one second remaining in the first round – knocking out Mendes with a knee. UFC makes its return to Brazil for the UFC 142, an event that will take place on January 14th at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro.
The main event of the evening features Brazilian José Aldo defending his UFC Featherweight title against Chad Mendez. Other highlights include Anthony Johnson
facing Vitor Belfort in his first middleweight fight.
A welterweight match between Anthony Johnson and Charlie Brenneman will be heading to UFC Live 6's tournament on October 1.
This October, Anthony Johnson will face Charlie Brenneman in a featured welterweight match at UFC Live 6. The said event will green lit a five-round, bantamweight title match between reigning champ, Dominick Cruz, and Demetrious Johnson. Also in the main card is a heavyweight duel pitting Pat Barry and Stefan Struve. Furthermore, Mac Danzig and Matt Wiman will have their much-awaited rematch of their UFC 115 encounter.
UFC Live 6 will kick off on October 1 at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.
