Benson Henderson wants Rafael dos Anjos for his octagon return

Bendo has set his sights on Rafael dos Anjos as possible opponent for his comeback fight

Former UFC lightweight champ finally broke his silence after losing his belt to rival last August. He discussed some of his plans for his return bout and the injury that he suffered following the loss. To his credit, Henderson has not mentioned any excuses or factors that might have affected his performances that night. The former champ just stated some clarifications regarding his “controversial” verbal tap.

“I’m not going to act like I didn’t say tap because no one else saw it. But yeah, I think I said tap, and I could barely move my  other hand, my free hand, which wasn’t really that free — it was trapped with my other arm. But I think I barely, lightly tapped with that hand…and Pettis, being the good dude that he is let go. Herb didn’t see it I guess.”

Pettis, the man who gave him 2 of his 3 losses is scheduled to defend his belt against this December. And while Benson is unlikely to get a shot while Pettis holds the belt, Smooth has not been cheering for Thomson regarding that fight. However, he did give his thoughts on a potential match up that will probably lead him back to title contention.

“We’re kind of leaning towards ,” he said. “We think it would be a good fight with him, entertaining, a good fight, and I think the match-up works well for us. I don’t know if he has anybody scheduled or not.”

Rafael dos Anjos has quietly worked his way to a title eliminator. He has won 5 straight bouts after splitting his first eight fights at 4-4. The Kings MMA fighter holds notable victories over , , and .
