Natal replacement confirmed: Thales Leites to square off with Ed Herman in UFC 167
Former middleweight contender Thales Leites steps in to face Ed Herman
The injury of Michael Bisping has caused a major shuffle in the cards of the upcoming events. Ed Herman is the latest casualty of the shuffle. He was left without an opponent when Rafael Natal was summoned to fight Tim Kennedy as a replacement for Lyoto Machida. Again, Machida is also pulled out to take the place of The Count as an opponent for Mark Munoz.
However, Ed Herman will no longer be alone. It was recently announced that the returning UFC fighter Thales Leites will step up to face him in UFC 167. The fight will be Leites’ second UFC appearance after he was cut from the promotion 4 years ago. He won his return by dominating Tom Watson en route to a unanimous decision victory last August. The former UFC middleweight contender has now racked up 4 wins in a row.
Herman is also looking for consecutive wins. He won his last fight in July with a razor thin decision over Trevor Smith in an absolute barnburner that earned Fight of the Night honors. His last defeat was handed to him by Ronaldo Souza in the closing event of Strikeforce. The Brazilian submitted him in the first round of their fight.
