Chael Sonnen bashes Wanderlei Silva in UFC Tonight
The American Gangster fires back at Wanderlei Silva
Chael Sonnen has finally released his much awaited response to Wanderlei Silva’s video post of the incident in Mr.Olympia Expo early this week. Chael immediately tweeted that he will have his say in UFC Tonight. As host of the magazine show, he has all the cameras and the TV screen at his disposal. The self proclaimed American gangster wasted no time and opened up the show by firing back at Silva.
Here is the rest of the American Gangster’s statement:
“I’m all for Wanderlei having a little fun. But Wanderlei, three things: First off, if you’re going to do a publicity stunt, do not bring your own camera. It looks staged, which it was. It insults your audience. Assume that they’re going to connect the dots. Show up somewhere where a camera is, and then go into your little routine.”
Sonnen, who made a name for himself as the number 1 trashtalker of the industry also criticized Silva’s reluctance to face him in the octagon.
“Secondly, In this country and in this industry, if you refuse to fight a guy, like you did me, you forfeit your right to then talk about that person in this type of fashion. Accosting somebody in public can be regrettable. Accosting a gangster can be hazardous.”
For his third point, Sonnen jokingly made an offer for the two of them to have a formal interview in UFC Tonight.
“Third and finally, Wanderlei, if you would like to come on this very set and conduct a conventional and traditional style interview, we here at ‘UFC Tonight’ will pay your way.”
With the volley of verbal attacks from both fighters, it becomes inevitable for the two of them to settle the score inside the octagon. Sonnen is already scheduled to fight Rashad Evans in November 16 so the fight between the two will likely happen in the early parts of 2014.
