Joey Beltran And Rousimar Palhares Face Suspension For Failing Drug Tests
UFC on FX 6 fighters Beltran and Palhares both receive a nine-month suspension
Palhares tested positive for high levels of testosterone while Beltran was positive for anabolic steroid, nandrolone.
UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Marc Ratner, relayed the news via the website MMAWeekly.com and said:
“The UFC organization has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents,”
“Both athletes have agreed to serve a nine-month suspension retroactive to December 14. They must pass a drug test upon completion of the suspension before receiving clearance to compete again.”
Both fighters recently fought at the “UFC on FX: Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson” event last December 15, 2012 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland, Australia.
Beltran who earned a unanimous decision win against Igor Pokrajac in the prelim card, had his win turned into “No Contest”. While Palhares who fought in the main card, suffered a first round TKO loss to Hector Lombard, so his record still stands.View Article Source »
