Vitor Belfort Grateful to Jones’ Camp For Accepting Fight
Vitor ‘The Phenom’ Belfort is set to fight Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 152
Former UFC champion, Vitor ‘The Phenom’ Belfort, will now officially fight UFC light heavyweight title holder, Jon Jones, at the main event of UFC 152, which will be held in Toronto, Canada. Belfort was originally set to face Alan Belcher at UFC 153 in Brazil this October.
After the cancellation of UFC 151, a few names have popped up as Henderson’s replacement. Names like Chael Sonnen, Chris Weidman, and UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva have been considered, however, it was Belfort who was picked by Jones’ camp.
Belfort expressed his gratitude to his Twitter account (@vitorbelfort) and said:
“I just finish the call with my boss @lorenzofertitta and @danawhite I want to thank booth for put me in where a lot of guys are acting like divas I think this is a big challenge for any fighter that is alive on the game I thank God to provide me with this Blessing 2 fight the youngest champion we will face each other I have all the respect for jones thats why u can`t miss this competition a vintage and hy-tech fight Glory to Jesus also happy for all the fans I will not let no one down I come from the times of #carlsongracie He live inside of me I learn so much thing with him and #alstankie

Belfort enjoys a series of two straight wins and recently defeated Anthony Johnson with a first round submission win, at the co-main event of UFC 142, last February. His upcoming bout with Jones is his first time to fight as a light heavyweight after almost 4 years. He last fought at 205-lbs for the Cage Rage LHW title which was held on September 2007. He defeated opponent James Zikic by decision in that bout.
