Antônio Rodrigo ‘Big Nog’ Nogueira has not fully healed from his arm surgery
Former UFC heavyweight champ Antônio Rodrigo ‘Big Nog’ Nogueira’s injury has not healed fast enough for him to enter another bout. He underwent a surgery to repair his broken arm, after losing to Frank Mir at UFC 141.
Nogueira was forced to back out from his scheduled bout against Cheick Kongo at upcoming UFC 141 event. Replacing him is UFC newcomer, Shawn Jordan.
UFC officials made the announcement via UFC.com:
“With heavyweight legend “Minotauro” Nogueira forced out of July 21st’s UFC 149 event in Calgary due to injury, up and comer Shawn Jordan will get the biggest opportunity of his young career when he battles longtime contender Cheick Kongo.
Jordan, winner of four of his last five, is coming off a second round TKO of Oli Thompson in his UFC debut in March. This summer, he’ll look to hand Kongo his second consecutive defeat.”
Jordan made his UFC debut last March in Australia at the UFC on FX 2 event, where he earned a second round TKO stoppage against Oli Thompson. While Kongo comes from a loss, in his bout against Mark Hunt in UFC 144, last February.
